Hi all,
I don't know if anyone on here buys Retro Gamer (Future Publishing www.retrogamer.net) but I noticed this morning, as I was flicking through the letters, that they are planning to write up about the amiga from a classic to a modern platform.
I instantly thought this would be an ideal opporunity to send some information about all things modern. I mean how many people would know about the mediator, usb and the amiga one. Even the alternative boards could get a mention - the pegasus etc. How many people even know there was a port of quake and quake 2 or the Amiga? Probably not many.
The main reason though is to try and give our favourite system some publicity, something that's lacking here in the UK. That and I dont want the article to come off as if the amiga is totally dead and gone and died in 2000 along side the last major UK publication.
If anyone is interested in sending him some information I've got the publishers email address (P.M. me). Any comments are also welcome.

Nick Veitch still works at Future, I thought Retro Gamer was from another company (?)
Their research seems ok though, the Sega history was good enough, I doubt they'll have space for much info on modern-classic/A1/Peg though :-?

Theyre giving away Beneath A Steel Sky away free with the current issue. Only PC and Mac versions though
I think actual cover mounted disks for old systems and cassettes would be a better idea and add a whole new dimension to the "retro" feel

two probs there - 1 - cost (now that tapes are obsolete it'd cost lots), and 2 - If they put a Spectrum tape on the cover how many C64 owners would write in and complain?
Their Gremlin disk was great, but it must be tough to come up with that kinda stuff all the time ... I don't want to sound negative (reading my last post) but there's only so much they can do while staying profitable.
At least with Amigas it's easy to put ADFs back to disk and play this kinda stuff for real :-)

How is this magazine? We don't have anything like it in the states, and was thinking of subscribing. (Well, we have lots of non-professional zines, but nothing this organized). But, the cost is ~$140 (75 pounds)! Is it that good?
Edit: looks like it would only be $123 (~67 pounds). Still, is it worth it?

It's worth it if you enjoy a spread of old computers (they cover everything), not worth it if you're only into one (can find 'scene' stuff thats better and more specialised easily on the web).
They also have lots of Sinclair Spectrum content that won't mean much to US readers.
