Post by: guest1255 on August 04, 2004, 02:23:49 PM
Has anyone any idea why?.
When i soft reset my amiga 2k, i have to unplug the keyboard or it wont boot (hangs with grey/black screen). After 3-4 seconds i plug it back and it works fine.?

Filthy board? Have you cleaned it? It sounds like the reset is stuck, have you tried to just turn power off and then on again(to reset that way) with the board plugged in? :-)

Yes i did do that also, but same result, i have to turn the computer on while the keyboard is unpluged. Sometimes it runs without unplug. ( one at 10 ).

That is strange, well the next step is to test it with another keyboard if you can(so you can rule out if it is the computer or the keyboard that is faulty).

Oh no. A leaking battery. Remove it at once and clean the leaked acid. It can destroy your motherboard by eating up traces. It definitely is a probable cause to your problems. :-(

McBain: "Real acid?". :-)

Try cleaning it a q-tip, dipped in some isopropyl alcohol. Alternatively, get a new A2000 or just the motherboard. They are dirt cheap nowadays. Should be around from $20 to $50USD, depending on condition and expansions/accessories.
