What do you think of MTEC T1230/28 RTC expansion card for A1200? I'm considering buying it from a friend (second hand), so what is realistic price?

Hum,
10 -20 uk pounds sounds good...
You`ll wish you got a 040 in about a months time

You`ll wish you got a 040 in about a months time
And you'll wish you'd got an 060 with PPC a month after that! :-)

And then you'll wonder if the SharkPPC will ever be released...
:-P
Seriously, for an *idea* of prices
check ebay (if you're a registered user, look at completed listings for end prices) and also www.amibench.net.
Bear in mind that Blizzard 030s usually go for more than other 030 cards

Hi,
I used to have one of those MTEC cards but for some obscure reason it was not PCMCIA friendly. When I installed 8 MB the PCMCIA slot was unusable.
A friend of mine had no trouble so this problem might have been just my card.
8MB is max for those cards that's for sure. So I don't think it is that valuable. Go for a faster card. 030@40Mhz is nice. Can even play some 3d things at decent framerates. But an 040 or 060 is definatly the way if you realy want a powermonster.
Regards,
Erno

The small MTecs like the 1230/28 is today just a better then nothing option. Wouldn pay more then 15-20 EUR for it incl. 8 MB RAM and preferably FPU too.
This card puts is memory into ZII autoconfig adresspace, so if you install more then 4MB the PCMCIA-port is dead and an ZII board wont work with it either.
The bigger MTecs like the 1230/42 have AFAIK an own memorycontroller so you can install more then 8MB and it won`t block the PCMCIA port either.
In short: take this card only if it is cheap.
