Title: IomegaZip/parallel => A2000?
Post by: textory on August 02, 2004, 12:59:19 PM
Got 2 parallel zip drives which once I used with two pcs (home/work).

In this forum I found some postings concerning installing IDE zips. Is it possible to connect the parallel version to an A2000? Or do they have different pins?

You can't use them directly, but there is an experimental circuit that you can build to do the trick.

Also, IOBlix, VarIO, and maybe Hypercom, I/O boards support parallel zips.

Why bother, in addition to being a pain, the parallel version is sooo slow.  My external scsi has been working for many years (5?) where as I've had six ide get hit with the click of death.

hi hikermike,
right, parallel is terribly slow. But it's part of the equipment I got and (at the moment) I don't want to spend money on scsi-equipment. Until I find a better solution I'll give it a try. And 100 MB zip sound better than 800 KB
diskette.

@adolescent: thanks for the link. really useful.
