libmad is good and remember that non-fpu is faster but less accurate so it is up to you whether you want a good quality output.

The 68060 + FPU version of mpega.library is utterly pointless.

It uses 90-100% of CPU on the higher bitrate MP3 and is really
sluggish, bringing everything else to a halt even with Executive
running.

An FPU is an addition to a CPU and so should HELP with calculations,
not slow things down.

I have noticed no improvement in sound quality with the FPU version
and the integer one can be used to convert MP3->CDDA on the fly with
MakeCD (the FPU version would cause all sorts of problems - i.e.
buffer underrun).

Stick with the original v2.4:

The newer one using libmad does state that for 68k the integer version
is still the fastest. I take it this means less CPU usage, and who
uses 640kbit MP3 streams anyway.
