I'm trying to get HDToolbox to recognize a couple of IBM 0662, 1GB SCSI harddisks. Everyone reads the same configs and they should be 1052MB or so, instead HDToolbox recognize them as 830MB and gives me a requester that says: "Error 228 in drive description".
Any suggestions? :-)

Hum,
i don`t know what Error 228 means...
but Perhaps they were configured with SCSIConfig first and HDToolbox is incompatibe with the setup.. ???
but you can put in the differant values in by hand.
Or try another version of HDtoolBox (http://www.haage-partner.de/aos39/index-e.html)
Anyone else

For me it seems that the HD has saved a wrong drive geometry. Check if there are jumpers on it to change
size or other parameters. If not, I'd take it and put
in into a PC-Box, then use BIOS and/or a partitioning
program, make a single primary partition as big as the
drive and save. After that I'd try again with HDToolbox.

Hmm.. ok, next problem... getting a PC with SCSI :-D
They where installed in an IBM AS400 before so...

Ok, PCs with SCSI-Controller are quite rare now.
Maybe you can get a cheap old one on Ebay.
Have you checked usability of the HDs seperately
with HDToolbox yet? Is your SCSI-Chain all in order?
If the HDs have been used within an AS400, they've
probably been used in RAID mode or something similar.
That's where the wrong size comes from, I presume.

Yeah, that is solved though. My friend gave me a scsi-card, Adaptec AHA-2940U S1(should be nice with drivers for Amiga) so I'm going to test it when I have the time(that is, when my girlfriend give me permission to dig into her PC) :-)
I always test harddisks seperately when "debugging".
My scsi-chain is: Amiga(terminated)--DH0--Empty--CDrom(terminated). I guess it's right :-)
Raid, yes. The AS400 were a mailserver on a major coffee company(Gevalia) here in my town. The AS400(with new harddisks) is rescued too, but it's kinda hard to config. I'll get into it when the knowledge is high enough.
@blobrana: I don't like to test another HDToolbox besides the one that is in the AOS, that's because I have bad experiences with other than stock AOS. :-)

Hm, from my experience it's best to put the controller in
the middle. Never had any problems using this config. But
with SCSI there's always more than one way to get things
going.
Happy tinkering :-)

@ Crusher
If you don't come right and you have nowhere else to turn, send me the drive and I will sort it out. I have a 1gb drive that I rescued from a PC that was going into a dumpster and I set that up on my A4000T on the native SCSI card. I have a PC here with a legacy SCSI II card too, so I can check it there.
Just another option for you to consider.

@scholle: In the middle? With a SCSI2 controller? Ok, never thought about it 'cause it has it's own terminators. But I'll test it. :-)
@X-ray, I'll think about it. Thanks for the offer.
