I've tried almost everything to get an IDE disk going on my Xsurf. I've used the Xsurf on my A2K so I know it's working. The harddisk is taken from my A4KD and worked on that Amiga.
The problem is that I can access the CDrom(with help of IdeFix97) but not the harddisk. I have the XsurfIDE(104.2) with iconfile in the Expansion drawer but it feels like I have forgotten something.
Startup-sequence is org. 3.9 and has the lines about "If exists XsurfIDE then..." and so on.

Have you tried HDtoolbox yet ???
-
Yeah, HDToolbox doesn't find the harddisk..only the cdrom. I have tested with Cableselect, Master and Slave but nothing works. I have tested with other harddisks too but I only can get the cdrom to work. :-)
-
Don´t you need to set the tooltype to something like ´xsurf_atapi.device´ :-?
-
Mmm.. not according to Jens Schoenfeld. The atapi is for CDroms only isn't it?
Anyway, Jens is trying to help via email so we will see if it's resolves. I'll post it here if we get it going or not.
In the meanwhile I'm going to try with a BuddhaFlash controller this afternoon.
But if you(or any) come up with an idea then please post it. :-)

Hi Crusher
have you already tryed with the only HD (without the CD-ROM)?
Here i've tryed time ago, (for testing pourpose) and it worked, slow like a hell but it worked.
My SS is a plain:
C:IDEFix
C:SetPatch QUIET SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device"
Ciao

Hello.
Yeah, I've tried that too. But do I really need Idefix for a harddisk? Although I had idefix installed before so it can't be that either.
I discovered that I didn't need Idefix for the cdrom either so I uninstalled idefix. I just use the 2nd.scsi.device. :-)
-
hmm... do you use 2nd.scsi.device or scsi.device cause although the controller uses 2nd... you should just use the "scsi.device" in hdtoolbox and it should find it anyway, at least that's how my FastATA4000 with it's 2nd.scsi.device work. :)
-
Yeah, HDToolBox finds the cdrom with scsi.device but I use 2nd.scsi.device in the dosdrivers CD1(I alreday have an internal SCSI cdrom that uses CD0) tooltypes. :-) Hmm.. perhaps it works with just scsi.device there too, never thought of it :-)
EDIT: Tested to set the tooltype for scsi.device, didn't work. Putted it to 2nd.scsi.device, worked again. So I guess I have to have it on 2nd.scsi.device. :-)

mhh . . .i haven't own an A3000/T but, the SCSI controller of the A3000 uses 2nd.scsi.device too?
I've just reistalled the XSurfIDE in Expansion: (yes i am a masochist) and then i've launched the "custom_NSD.rexx" script, that helps alot to enable all the working device on the system and i have this line in "Devs:NDSPatch.cfg":
DEVICE 2nd.scsi.device DEVICETYPE NSDEVTYPE_TRACKDISK VERSION 43 REVISION 22 ISNSD
Without XSurfIDE installed, this line is disabled.
Bye

Don't know if it can use it. I use 2nd.scsi.device for my CDrom on the Xsurf. :-)

At last, I got it fixed. I found my good old Catweasel ZII MK2 and after installment of the real drivers the card found my Quantum 40GB.
Did solve my problem but not on the XSurf, pitty.
But now my CDrom on the XSurf is 3rd.scsi.device :-D
Want to thank Jens Schoenfeld at Individual Computers for the support and not getting tired of my endless questions. :-)
