Catwoman trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/catwoman/large.html)
It was bad! It was AWFUL! Oh, it was terrible! take it away! Hey, BOO!
I think it's apt to use this Muppets quote, especially when considering the complete muppets who thought this film would be a good idea... hopefully the general public won't make themselves look the muppets instead by actually going to see this crap...

When you go to see a comic book film you know you're not going to be witnessing an oscar winner. (Unless Tim Burton directs it :P) They usually rate from middling to awful.
-
IMO, the only decent/half-decent comic book conversions:
Batman, X-Men
Allegedly the following are also from comics though, which I rate as half-decent or better:
From Hell, Underworld
-
I thought the first Crow movies was really good too...
-
The Crow is excellent. One of my favourite movies.
I doubt the comic conversion is coming to an end tho. There are Hulk sequels and all sorts in the pipeline.
The last comic movie I saw was Spiderman. I might go see the second one if I'm in the mood for that sort of thing, but I haven't been since the first.

oh GOD!
:-P
The first crow movie has a terrible script and horrific acting, but it does have a good atmosphere.
It is also an absolutely TERRIBLE translation from the comic.
NOTE: I am terribly biased against this film because it caused hundreds of losers with white clown makeup and diamonds on their eyes to ruin my clubscene for the next 5 years.
Suddenly, I'm at a concert and wondering why everyone looks like a member of KISS and is claiming that there is some kind of brotherhood or commonality between us...wonderful...just shoot me.
-
You can't blame the film for doing what it's supposed to, and affecting people. :-)
-
I watched The Crow recently and didn't think much of it, though perhaps my opinion was adversely affected by quite a few people recommending it.
-
I have to say I didn't think a lot of The Crow, it was more style over substance... The recent film Hellboy was ok, in a dumb way, though.

finally the end of the comic book film conversion era?
Perhaps not just yet then (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/entertainment/film/3923087.stm)

ugh! more Speilcrap! :pissed:

Transformers the movie.
Worst movie conversion idea ever?
I can hardly wait for all that ultra-phoney looking CGI, the bad screenplay, the cliche characters, and the script that could have been written by a 6 year old from watching an episode of Thundercats.
Hmm, on second thoughts...Thundercats would be the worst movie conversion ever.
-
I hope you're not knocking Thundercats, that was one of my favourite cartoons :-P

'Batman Begins' teaser trailer available. I have some hope for this film, it isn't directed by Joel "turn everything into a gay joke" Schumacher:

Impressive lineup: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372784/

I'd have to agree. Hollywood films seem to do escapism and fantasy, beautiful people, etc whereas European films (and I'm not including British films, cos their all crap too) do human emotion, emotion that all of us can relate to.
Also, compare Das Boot and Stalingrad with American war films - Shaving Ryan's Privates was such a ridiculous idea!
-
Haven't watched the trailer, but in the lineup I'm missing "the joker".. Wasn't it he who "created" Batman ?
What did you think about the Spiderman movies ?

Well, I thought there are some good British films, for instance Billy Elliot, or Iris.

I think that was a variation for the first Batman film, just like there are variations between the various X-Men series (between each other) and the films.
Though I've never read any Batman comics.
Watched Batman (the film, Tim Burton) last night :-)

IIRC, the comics also pointed the Joker as the man who murdered Bruce's parents, but, like Superman, the background/concept of Batman has been rewritten several times..
Then again, been years since I read the comics, and I always prefered Spiderman.. The latest movies have taken most of the good points of the comics and IMHO didn't damage a thing. (Biggest change is the way SPidey handles his web, in the comic he makes it with chemistry and some gadget.. In the movie it's built in so to say)
