Title: Why is this a big deal?
Post by: FluffyMcDeath on July 22, 2004, 05:27:23 PM
If passengers in Hijacked airplanes were able to make cell phone calls in 2001, why is this (http://www.usatoday.com/money/biztravel/2004-07-19-aircells_x.htm) a big deal?

I guess they mean phone calls at higher altitudes or over sea. The GSM800/900/1800 standard aren't ment for this, that's why they turn to sattelites.

Planes are one of the last safe places where you can actually relax and enjoy travel without some big mouth on a mobile phone jabbering in a very loud voice all day about their nights out or who they're dating this week. It's a haven from stupid ring tones and idiotic unneccessary texting beeps. Don't take it away and give it to the airheads to terrorize like all the buses and trains!
