Just downloaded this from Aminet and unarchived on a proper Amiga.
Problem is when I run the install program it says unable to compile install script at line 1.
Anyone know a way around it?
Downloaded the installer from back to the roots so that should be okay..
Many thanks,
Macca.

This is caused by either :
a) using too old a version of Installer (43.3 is pretty recent). Newer versions come with 3.5/3.9.
b) Errors in the script
You could try InstallerNG from
http://ing.light-speed.de/

As above , its most likely your installer version. the updated installer in os35/39 should be used, but i think most scipts can detect your version and use the last pre os35 version. Be sure to check your c: and sys:Utilities directories as you may have conflicting versions. the scripts used for whdload are prettymuch standaised to make it really easy to make installer scripts for any whd slaves you make. But one point I have to disagree with is InstallerNG Prolly one of the last installer versions you should try, its shocking to see that the program still exists as its one of the worst installer replacments outthere and is not in any way 100% compatable to the original installer. 1 line mistake and its computer crash. ;)

I agree with the previous posters, your installer is too old. You can get the latest version here:
http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminetbin/find?installer-43
Do not use InstallerNG. It may solve the problem, but it may introduce new ones aswell.

Thanks for the help.
Off to try again now. Will let you know how it goes...

Still the same ******* problem.
Tried the installer from the link above and no go. There is no installer in the utilities folder either.
This is a fresh Workbench 3.1 install as well. Sigh knew I shouldn't have touched the old installed version.
Does anyone have a link to a later installer?
Cheers,
Macca

Even weirder... the previous version works fine so I'm guessing it's WHD's problem and not mine - hehe

Latest (44.10) version of installer can also be found in this archive :-
http://www.amiga.com/3.9/download/NDK3.9.lha
Also..is it just one installer or all of themwhich are having issues ?. sometimes some not standard installers get used instead of the templates which come come with whd.

Well...
I tried the installer of the install disk and the installer in the archive above - both produced the same error.
So tried all the other installers mentioned (NG / etc.) and they wouldn't even install.
In the end I got the previous WHD version and that works fine.
Weird. Anybody else tested the latest version? If so what installer did they use?
-
So you meant the latest WHD (16.3) doesn't install itself?
I got the error when I tried, so there must be an error in the script. I copied the needed files by hand and at least the WHDLoad in C: works OK.

this bug has been fixed now.
