OK, I've posted this before but since then I have tried other stuff.
This time, I FORMATED the entire drive. Blank.
The SB128 was installed power off, HD Blank.
I installed 3.9 with CD driver.
Then I installed Mediator MultiMedia CD and now the Mixer gives a "Software Failure" error on bootup and the whole thing takes a CRAP.
Is there a step I am missing? Do I have to delete paula.audio first?
Is the Mediator disk kaput, or maybe I got a bum sound card?
Mediator cliams that once you install Picasso96, Cybergraphics 643D, that it is ready to go.
Any ideas please???
:-?

ok , junk...maybe..but lets do so research first.
1. DO U HAVE A GFX CARD ? as a sb128 in the mediator REQUIRE you to have ONE!
2. Did u try the MM CD only (2.5) or did u go all the way up to lastest version?
anyway go to YAHOO and MEDIATORLIST for further help!
my setup is a1260/66/240ppc/mediator/voodoo5/sb128/100mbit ether/usb/tvcard and SCSI , 128mb ram etc....
-
Well, the voodoo card works great without a GFX card.
The issue is with MIXER locking up my Amiga.
I went to Ya ya ville via the link at Elbox.
There I searched the archives only to find that the Mixer that comes with 3.9 REALLY IS A BUGGY PIECE OF CRAP.
I think I'll stick with Paula, she works pretty good for an old lady!
-
isnt there some revisions of the SB128 that dont work with the mediator or am I talking outa my arse? chances are I am :-)
-
Is your SB128 definately based on one of the chipsets listed in the
documentation ES1370, ES1371, ES1373, CT5880 and EV1938.

Paula is running Amiga Amp "Once Bitten Twice Shy"
White Snake!
Success!
Good old Paula! What a fine girl you are!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-)
-
YEP, SB128 CT5880. Just like de man sez.
Don't work mate.
Paula sounds pretty good after all this grief.

Once Bitten Twice Shy is done by Great White....I know I am being anal...But White Snake could probably do a good version of it! I love that song!

The Voodoo IS a graphics card. Just for clarification, you need a supported graphics card on the pci bus. This is because part of the graphics card's memory is used for dma transfers.
What are you currently using with the mediator as far as cards go?
-
i have a Sound Blaster 128 with a mediator and it works perfecty. Much more better than my pc with SB128.
My SB there isn't in the list of compatible chipset but it works good. probably you have a faulty SB.

So I assume that I will need to get a new GFX card then if I get the mediator? I (will) have a BVision.

delete mixer from startup ( it will work after
workbench has loaded) use tsimixer instead
i use it from Amidock works every time
good luck

I thought that this may have been my brother`s thread. His soundcard may have killed its self last night. We haven`t done much of a test yet.

If you want to use a SB128, then yes. As I recall, both the SB128 and 100Mbit nics use DMA.
Voodoo cards were somewhat reasonable last time I looked (when I picked up mine.) I outfitted my mediator with the Voodoo 3 3000, SB128 and the nic for under $50 USD. That's not bad at all when you look at what Amiga hardware runs for.
-
I have a Voodoo 3 card already. It has been working like a champ for a long time.
That Mediator software is causing a failed boot, even with Mixer deleted out of startup-sequence.
I am in the process of deleting all SB128 files so I can get on with using my Amiga.\
I'll say it again. Paula might be old, but she still rocks.
Retarded Fury is right. I am wrong. Great White not White Snake.
But, I can assure you that it rocks when Paula feeds the 200W amp (real amp, not a powered speaker) and together they rattle your bones!

Your not wrong there, Paula maybe old (what 20 years now?) but she still does a damn good job here using AHI 14bit modes.
-
Now that you mention it, why are so many people so keen to get a sound card?
A 20 year old amplifier will still fill the house. Maybe my rock and roll ears are shot and I can't tell the difference anymore :-)
-
This one is easy. The mixer software supplied by Elbox really sucks. Remove all trace of the mixer stuff from your startup-sequence and user-startup and then download 'TaskiMixer'.
Once done you should be up and running. Just check your AHI install and the voodoo memory setting and you should have many hours of musical bliss.

Thanks for the info!
I'll head over to aminet and pick it up right away.
But first.....
