Title: ide controller+memory expasion on cpu socket possible for A500/CDTV?
Post by: DaNi on July 16, 2004, 12:41:53 AM
i have a AdIDE2 controller on my CDTV put on the cpu socket, but my question is if i can add a expasion memory together (adide+memory+cpu), for example the expasion memory CDTV of elbox.

Thanks

It's possible electronicly, but you'll probably run out of space in the CDTV case as the Elbox memory card is very large.  I've seen an A500 that had an Derringer 030 and an AdIDE2 and it worked fine, although it was very cramped I'm sure.

There is a memory card by W.A.W which connects to the CDTV's Diagnostic slot called the bigram8 which lets you add up to 8MB fast ram, thats probably better than an elbox style memory card on top of an adide card.
Other than that why not get an SCSI card and connect a harddrive that way and use the elbox mem card with the 68000.

i dont know any place for buy a wav 8mb or a wav cdtv scsi controller oli_hd... my only solution for the moment is add the 8mb of elbox with the firmware modificated for run the memory+adide2
