A stock A1200 with just the 2mb Chipram will struggle to do much online, you really need at least some fastram. As far as serial transfers are concerned I've never been able to get mine to work, but maybe I'm just stupid, as far as the pcmcia network card is concerned.. I'll leave that to the others :-)
Happy Amiga-ing !

ok thanks will look on ebay for ram for the amiga
how much will i need??

Try finding a 030 card with some ram! it should be cheap and will speed up the A1200 a lot! or you could go all the way with a 040 or 060 card but at least the latter is pretty steap in price! btw 64mb ram should be more then enough if you can find simms for the acc card.

Yes. I find Twin Express to be good as it is easy to set up. It is a simple dos commandline program. Commands are the same on pc and Amiga, it uses Unix like commands. Miami also can be used along with FTP. Oh and it is fast for a serial transfer.
