Title: Sadistic screens for help!
Post by: Nick on January 28, 2003, 11:49:11 AM
Hello people.

I think I should make those really bad headlines on news papers. :-)

It took a minute or so to work out if this should be in the hardware or software section. Problem is
I don`t know which it is.

When my computer switches screens, it is almost a 50:50 chance of crashing. Its starting to get
REALLY ANNOYING! Also as my computer switches screens once on bootup it can crash before I get
chance to do anything.

Anybody else had this problem, and cured it? Or is it terminal? I`am once again in the middle of a
project and would like to be able to carry on with it. Its going to prove difficult with it crashing,
left, right and centre.

Thanks

Try booting with no startup-sequence, launch a program and switch back and forth (left-A + m) a lot of times. If it crashes, I would blame hardware. I have never, ever had that happen to me, at least. In workbench / cgx-resolutions that is not all too unfamiliar, though. Not left and right, but it has happened. If so, I would blame software (I bet you are running all sorts of hacks :-)). Also I once received the ramlib blahblah suspension crash thing on a lot of bootups after it switched screens, but I think that was because of some ppc-thingie. I forgot how I fixed it.

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

PS: howcome your computer ALWAYS troubles you when you need to write assignments, you think? Take a hint, drop out :P

I`m going to try a simple OS later on. See if it still does it.

Thanks

As for assignments. I`m past those now. I`m doing game graphics and other cool stuff.
