Title: Amiga 2000 + harddrive
Post by: purKKi on July 09, 2004, 07:31:00 PM
Hello,

I have Amiga 2000, Kickstart 3.1 + SCSI harddrive. So what to do? What disks I need and what operations I have to perform to get the harddrive working?

I am totally new with using Amigas with harddrives. Some help would be nice, thanks! :)

Welcome!

I assume you want to install Workbench 3.1. You'll need the Install disk from the 3.1 set, as it's bootable and has tools on it to prep the hard drive and install the OS. Workbench 3.1 is still available from most Amiga dealers, so it should be easy to find.

What kind of SCSI controller is in your machine?

Honestly, I don`t know. Just a card in a zorro bus.

But I am trying to get those WB disks soon as possible. Hopefully I can get my system fully running then.

The reason I asked about the SCSI controller is that some old 3rd party controllers are not very versatile and sometimes won't let you configure a drive with the tools you want. Some even restrict the names of partitions.

If you don't know the type, the odds are good that you have a standard Commodore 2091. It should be fine.
