BlizzardPPC cooling

Description: Here's a picture of my BlizzardPPC card.
68060 @ 50Mhz / 603e @ 240Mhz / On-board SCSI

The card has not been overclocked in any way, however in order to keep it properly cooled, I felt that I should add some extra heatsinks and fans, just to be safe.

The original small fan has been disconnected and I've placed a VGA-type fan on top of the PPC heatsink. I've used adhesive thermal paste to secure it.

Before, when only the small Phase 5 provided fan was used, the PPC heatsink would get extremely hot. So hot in fact that you wouldn't be able to hold your finger on it for longer than 3 seconds, without getting burned.

Now that the new fan is cooling the PPC heatsink you can safely touch it, without your getting burned. It's so cool now that you can hold your finger on the heatsink and only feel that it's slightly warm. :-)

I've disconnected the old fan from getting power, as all it does at this point is attract unnecessary dust in the area of the 603e chip. The fan power connector gets extra +5V from the power supply (more power for healty BPPC operation is always a good thing).

There's also a heatsink and a fan over the 68060 chip. Probably only the heatsink would be sufficient to keep the 68060 cool, however I figured why not, so I've added a fan as well. :-) This 68060 chip (like most of 060 chips anyway) runs pretty cool, regardless if there's a heatsink on it or not.

Last but not least, there's a smallish heatsink installed over the SCSI chip...just in case. ;-)

You can never keep a CPU too cool, let alone two. Great hack!
