Description: Not a terribly exciting picture, but I don't think I saw any of WB 2.x so here's one! This is on my "unexpanded" superkick A3000 with just ECS and an X-Surf. In the upper right is a telnet session to the 3000UX running AMIX 2.03, with the lame trick of getting 9k+ days uptime! :-)

Failure Posts:332 | August 19, 2004, 11:36:13 PM The point of AMIX? Morbid curiosity I guess ;-) I work with UN*X systems daily (primarily Linux) and if nothing else, AMIX has given me a lot of respect for open standards, and how far UNIX-style OS have come while maintaining so much compatability. Taking AMIX 1.1, which was released in 1990 I believe, and mounting a 600+GB NFS share on a Linux box running the 2.6.7 kernel is impressive to me. It's like a minor miracle. Same with x11, AMIX using X11R4 talking to XFree86 4.3. |

Pure geek, is the answer I guess. I mean, what could be more geeky than this? And lets face it, we're all geeks in a sense, othewise we wouldn't be using a dead platform.... Am I gonne get flamed as well for that last comment? :flameon: |
whabang Posts:7270 | August 18, 2004, 03:25:57 PM I like the backdrop. I'm going to get flamed for this, but what use is there for AMIX today? It's not really usable anymore, right? :-? |
