Crom00 Posts:1235 | November 13, 2007, 08:49:59 PM Lack of innovation after such a great start: A) Using Motorolla CPUs instead of maximizing MOS technology engineering skills and using an in house processor. B) Waiting too long to release AGA (should have been ready by 87-88)not 92. C)15klhz FlIcKeRiNg!!! Non VGA display output when 256 color & 24 bit options were commonplace on other platforms. |

FastRobPlus Posts:392 ![]() | October 18, 2004, 05:28:00 PM Stiff competition killed Amiga. Software piracy killed Amiga. Proprietary hardware when the world was moving to comodity pricing for compenents killed the Amiga. |
leirbag28 Posts:1793 ![]() | September 11, 2004, 12:31:06 AM @that_punk_guy oooh boy do I agree! not with Piracy, but if it were not for the tons of free games I was able to get for the Amiga.I would have never bothered, or even buying all the Amiga hardware I have purchased till this very day. All the coolness back then got me seriously hooked. And yes..........companies produced tons of 100%pure crap games.......especially US GOLD (my Arch enemies) These companies were just making shovelware with no enhancements and instead, degraded crap. Only few companies made masterpieces and knew the Amiga inside out. |
that_punk_guy Posts:4526 ![]() | January 28, 2004, 05:07:12 PM If it wasn't for readily available warez, the previous owner of my first Amiga would never have bought that machine, I wouldn't have come across that machine, and I wouldn't have spend a few hundred pounds on Amiga hardware and software in the late nineties... I'm not condoning piracy in any way (except for Windows 2000 ISOs ;-)) I just think it's not always as cut and dried as people like to make out. If you make a crap piece of software, you can't blame pirates solely for your low sales figures. Too many Amiga developers use piracy as a lame excuse to churn out substandard software for stupidly high prices. |
Trev Posts:1550 | January 28, 2004, 03:04:48 AM Pirates didn't kill the Amiga. Technological advancement killed the Amiga. Closed hardware (e.g. Mediator), closed SDKs (e.g. OpenPCI; yes, OpenPCI--try getting a copy of the SDK), and outrageous licensing requirements are killing what's left of the Amiga. |
