A1200 custom case project - update #4 | ||

Description: The final test. Still missing is the hard reset. This will be first via testpoint and will be implemented as a normal keyboard reset using a simple clock delay circuit later. Still did not dare to plug in a display but the computer seems to boot up from the hard disk. The 2.5" ATA is only a test, the system will have an internal SCSI disk using BPPC SCSI controller :-) Some of the stuff now implemented: -ATX power circuitry and custom power feed (external cable) -Keyboard connection via keyboard MPU -Joy 1 extension -Custom backplate and right side connector ports for keyboard and mouse -PCMCIA connector port on the left side of the case. No 90 degrees adapter needed :-) I also wanted a tidy solution. Everything is build using connectors and protoboard routing in order to be able to change the mobo easily and/or remove some custom connections. Extra care was put into wire routing and insulation so nothing short circuits and moving the case will not tear the connections apart. All in all this took me about 20 hours or so, which of half went into debugging the ATX stuff. Too bad I did not look at the updated schematic in the first place. mikolas Posts:76 ![]() | August 06, 2008, 06:59:11 PM The 2.5" disk is there only for testing bootup as I said in the post. It stays in that position only by luck :-) I'm missing two 3.5 -> 5.25 brackets though, so installing the SCSI disk(s) will have to wait a bit. They do not fit on top of the PSU because of the adapters needed won't fit. I hope to finish this tomorrow when I get to paint some parts, will post "final" pictures of the internals and externals then. |
