Description: This is AlphaPower IDE controller with 2Mb ZIP RAM and small 2,5"HDD. As you can see, I had to use really long screw to fasten the HDD on the left side. Unfortunately AlphaPower for some reason refuses to work with 4Mb (RAM chips seem to be fine and jumper is set correctly). (I get 'defective' in earlystartup.) countzero Posts:1938 | July 20, 2008, 08:23:48 AM I have this controller too (bought from mc venco) happily works with 6mb. but I want to make a 72 pin adapter for it. does anyone know how IDE works ? usually on SCSI boards, there is a SCSI controller chip, but IDE boards I've seen seem to get away with a few GALs. so it shouldn't be too hard to implement ? |
Chain Posts:1324 | May 12, 2008, 06:11:50 PM defective ram almost in all cases means bad dram chips or bad contacts inbetween. try to run some memtests and swapping one by one from one bank to another |
