Description: Here's 'before and after' photo of BVision. I had to shorten the heatsink below fan (on Permedia) so that it would fit. BTW, its dangerously close to RAM chip. Maybe I should have used better memory coolers (one covering two chips at once). delshay Posts:1009 ![]() | May 14, 2008, 01:19:28 PM excellent job. if any cooling is to done on the memory chips i dont see any point in cooling only half of them. there are four memory chips on the other side of the board. a 5v fan can also be connect near the 5v regulator. ** all modification at your own risk ** |

cv643d Posts:1197 | May 08, 2008, 08:50:40 AM No that is not overracting. This card gets really hot. Good idea to run active cooling on the Permedia. I noticed on my card even the chips on the bottom half of the card gets really hot so I was thinking of putting minimal heatsinks on them to. However I am going to run a 30 mm fan/heatsink on my BVision. |
clemenza Posts:93 ![]() | May 08, 2008, 08:17:41 AM Very good job, but don't you think you 're overreacting a little bit? Mine worked flawlessly for about a year without any coolers. Ahhh... good times, especially in the winter! |
rkauer Posts:3263 | May 08, 2008, 05:12:43 AM Just put some insulation between the cooler and the RAM chip's legs! [EDIT] A better idea: take that Permedia 'sink out and take out a bit of the bottom side to make it "unreachable" to the RAM chips. Then glue it again. |
