redrumloa Posts:10126 | March 01, 2008, 06:17:17 PM @rkauer I never had a problem even when playing 3D games like Payback and Quake II. |
rkauer Posts:3263 | February 14, 2008, 07:50:25 AM And about the ventilation/cooling of the Voodoo itself? That board runs hot as hell, even in the "right" position (with the heatsink turned up and a fan). :flame::devildance: |
redrumloa Posts:10126 | February 02, 2008, 11:28:16 AM The same can pretty much be done with an A3000D also. If memory serves me the difference is you can't put the Prometheus in the top slot, but the second to top. So you lose 2 slots instead of one. Quote Now that's an elegant solution, very well done! Hope you don't need any other PCI cards though.. Back then I also did the same thing to use 2 slots. You can buy right angle adapters of different heights. I had a 8029 nic and Voodoo 3 in a 4000D, with 2 free zorro slots left. Anyone thinking of doing this conversion, keep one critical thing in mind. There is very little room left between the metal case and the top of the card. This is why you see rubber spacers on the back of the voodoo. You do NOT want the back of the Voodoo touching the case! |

odin Posts:6796 | January 17, 2008, 10:55:54 AM Note that it isn't my hardware in the pics, it's redrumloa's stuff. I was planning to do the same to my Prometheus but couldn't be bothered in the end and sold it. |

odin Posts:6796 | January 16, 2008, 01:40:05 PM Redrumload? Whoops, apologies :-D. The card apparently is a Voodoo 3 and the case fits with this construction =). |
