Description: Forum post here: Amiga Marketplace / For postage/Free: Busted Amiga1200 motherboard

Suspect the ROMS are bust, because they were seated incorrectly when I received this board.

Reseating them removed one symptom (superhot ROMS), but didn't make it work again.

It responds to ctrl-amiga-amiga, and boots up normally, except the screen doesn't show the kickstart screen. The only hint you get of the kickstart is a purple flash before the screen is black again.

That's an exceptionally crisp image.  Absolutely delightful to watch. :)

yes, nothing was wrong with this board, only the roms were busted. I performed capfix on it and sent back to arnljot, and got another mobo with audio problem :) which was related to a leaky cap in the audio filter so it was saved too :)

The board has been sent to countzero in japan.

We swapped. Ironacally, for a two pair of roms... :) hehe

Well, it may well be that the ROMs are fried, superhot ROMs are never a good thing, and even if removed and reseated, the damage might already be done. Have you another pair to try? I'm sure lots of people have sets of 3.0 chips lying around from upgrading to 3.1...

No, it can't be that.

On my other A1200 it's to the right, and also on this image from the big book of amiga hardware.

NO WAY!

The ROMs in the photo are in the correct place (rightmost place in the socket).

The problem could have another origin: swapped ROM chips*, no system clock, a bended (or broken) pin in one of the chips or busted ROM.

* Nevermind, I checked on mine 1200. They are in the right place.

You are absolutely correct ... the chips go to the left side of the socket and not the right.

Super hot chips and coloured screen is the fault if seating in the sockets to the right.
