Description: A500+ has 2M chip, GVP has 4M fast, 40M HDD and PC286 addon card, all working perfectly. I think it is the best looking machine I've ever owned ![]() Picture Stats: Views: 2180 Filesize: 181.73kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: baxyp at September 10, 2007, 05:20:46 PM Image Linking Codes

Oldsmobile_Mike Posts:6106 | February 10, 2013, 08:06:13 PM After years of wanting one I finally acquired a nearly identical setup a few weeks ago and can confirm that yes, you can run the hard drive without an additional PSU (I got mine from Europe and had no other option, since I couldn't find a North American power supply). You have to bridge a couple solder pads on the board and it'll work fine if your A500 has the lightweight power brick. ![]() |
Caius Posts:294 | November 13, 2008, 06:55:59 AM I always wanted one of those GVP HD units back when I had an A500. Really nice looking system you have there. |
darksun9210 Posts:1319 | October 15, 2008, 11:26:06 AM the GVP psu for my A530 went pop, so i run a second power supply from the floppy port to the power connecter on the A530. i don't use a hard disk though, i use a CF and an IDE2SCSI bridge card. in the hope it draws less juice than the old 1GB scsi drive it used to have in there, so less strain on the powertrain! choo choo! |

countzero Posts:1938 | April 19, 2008, 03:21:43 PM great machine, great setup. I'm all for 500+'es. I have one too, but only mobo and no case. |

AMC258 Posts:877 ![]() | December 18, 2007, 02:54:30 AM My Datafryer setup would work with or without the extra power supply. And, I had a HUGE power sucking hard drive. The power LED would dim without the extra power supply though :-) |
adolescent Posts:3056 | September 12, 2007, 12:03:43 AM That is a really nice looking machine. GVP really got the case matching down. My old Dataflyer looked like crap (well, not as bad as an A590 or Supra HD) connected to the side of my poor A500. |
Damion Posts:3511 ![]() | September 11, 2007, 09:52:45 PM :pint: Nice machine, looks new. IMHO (along with the A3000 desktop), the later model A500/A500+ is the coolest looking Amiga. |
baxyp Posts:19 ![]() | September 11, 2007, 05:18:13 PM I have not tried to run HD without PSU. The A500+ has original power brick, I think it would not be enough for both, but who knows, it might even work. I could try but I do not want to fry anything :-) |

Oldsmobile_Mike Posts:6106 | September 11, 2007, 05:45:28 AM As long as my girlfriend doesn't come in the room here and catch me drooling, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is one beautiful machine! |
