Description: An old Orbitel Transcoder Controller board using a MC68020RC16E clocked at 13Mhz.

Just found it in the garage and I thought I'd let you folks here on amiga.org have a look.

Theres also a pair of MC68230FN8 IC's on the board (The larger square plastic IC's). Any idea what function these chips perform?

If you have no use for the board, take out the CPU and the ROMs! They are very valuable for Amiga expansions.

For the "unknown" Motorola chips, did you tried http://www.freescale.com ?

[edit]
Nevermind. They don't have more data to the MC 68230. But I found it in Alldatasheet website!

Is a parallel converter and timer.

My father and I reckon that these boards are probably from a GSM basestation, probably handling some digital cross-point switching, or they're digital frame-rate changers.

They were part of a Racal designed island (Each basestation has its own frequency reference) communication system for GSM.

Apart from that, we've got no further information on these boards.

Wow, all these picture posts of your stuff you "found in the garage", pretty cool!  All I have in my garage is old car parts and lawnchairs.
