Description: You can connect an a600 keyboard to an a1200 motherboard. There are differences however..... The a600 connecter has 30 pins whereas the a1200 one has 31 pins.... The a600 keyboard tail pin1 can connect with pin1 of the a1200 connector. If you power up the a1200 then you will find that the a1200 will respond to the keyboard! Due to a difference in the matrix however, there are two problems: 1) The CAPS lock light will not function! 2) Keys pressed will not be expected - the rows are mixed around! The rows can be fixed with a soldering iron if you have a steady hand..... The keyboard tail pins at the keyboard membrane going to the a1200 keyboard controller need to be changed to the following configuration: Pin1 goes to Pin7 Pin2 goes to Pin5 Pin3 goes to Pin1 Pin5 goes to Pin2 Pin7 goes to Pin3 There are a number of ways to accomplish this including: 1) A piggy back circuit. 2) Crosswire the pins at the keyboard connector 3) Crosswire the pins at the a1200 keyboard MPU. I have included a picture of the cable cross wired at the keyboard MPU. willow Posts:24 ![]() | May 14, 2008, 12:32:41 PM Hi Alexh, Good comment! :-P The info is used in this project : A1200 in A600 The excess portion of the A1200 motherboard has been cut so that it can reside within the a600 case.... so no need to cut a slot in the a600 case..... |
alexh Posts:3644 | April 06, 2008, 09:25:54 PM With a hole cut in one side for the other half of the A1200 motherboard to stick out? |
weirdami Posts:3776 | February 29, 2008, 12:33:50 PM I bet that an A1200 inside an A600 case looks exactly like an A600. |
