I am about to do the same to your former A1200 :-) I already have the cutting tool and the CF to IDE adaptor.

We seem to think alike.I was going to get a portable DVD player with video input myself as a way to cheat on having to get a standalone LCD screen wich seem to be more expensive :-)

I simply sat the IDE2CF adapter on top of the PCMCIA port and shaped a clip out of heavy insulated copper wire that simply clips it in place using existing holes.

You can see it in the other picture if you look carefully. It sits very secure yet can be removed in seconds if need be.

Wonderfully clever! Keeping the case as unmodified as possible and putting items like this in are terrific.
