PPAZip hack job | ||

Description: Here's my attempt at one of the hack projects on Aminet. PPAZip is a program whereby you can use parallel Zip drives on your Amiga. I followed the instructions, and with the patient help of the cool guys online here, managed to somewhat clumsily solder all the neccessary wires to the 25pin D-sub. Even though I ruined a couple of D-subs, I finally got it finished, and it worked! :banana: Boy, was the transfer rate slow. It took foooooooorever to format a 100meg Zip disk. :sleep:

Amiduffer Posts:1601 | June 22, 2007, 12:46:25 AM Yep, it plugs into the parallel port and the cable to the Zip drive plugs into the other end. The 9pin DSub plugs into the joystick port, at least on the A1200. PC's have never been able to read Amiga formated media. You have to run CrossDos so that you can read a PC formated zip disk. |
Hodgkinson Posts:1080 | May 20, 2007, 07:46:58 PM Hi there! Are the now-Amiga-formatted Zips still readable/writeable in PC's - E.g. for transferring files between a PC and a Amiga? EDIT : I guess the larger D-sub connectors are for plugging into the parallel port and for plugging the Zip drive into. What's the smaller 9-Pin D sub for / where does it go? EDIT : Thanks for the info! Hodgkinson. |
Amiduffer Posts:1601 | May 09, 2007, 06:05:56 AM I wish I had known that then. :lol: I was pretty excited that the zipdisk showed up on the screen. Lairbag has the hack now, so I hope he gets some use out of it. |
