motorollin Posts:8669 | October 01, 2008, 04:42:22 PM Considering I have never used a dremel or cut metal before and that I am not usually very good at this kind of thing, I would say it was quite easy. The cutting took about an hour IIRC. The new PSU is held in place with double-sided sticky pads which sounds dodgy but is actually very secure and also removable should this become necessary. -- moto |
Lorraine Posts:304 ![]() | October 01, 2008, 12:16:22 PM Oohh this is a good mod. Was it easy to do with dremel? How is the little PSU fitted and fixed inside? |

Amiduffer Posts:1601 | April 10, 2007, 10:26:06 PM Cool! Nice hack job. Yes, you can juuuust barely see the fan. |
motorollin Posts:8669 | April 10, 2007, 05:14:54 PM Also, the PSU itself has a small fan which blows out the back of the A4000 (you can just see it in the bottom left). -- moto |
motorollin Posts:8669 | April 10, 2007, 05:13:44 PM I haven't really used the system heavily since installing the modded PSU so I'm not sure how stable it is. If I start getting random crashes then I'll think about fitting a fan. -- moto |
rkauer Posts:3263 | April 10, 2007, 05:08:22 PM Very cool. :-D But where is the fan? :-? If you want it silent, put a 12V one pluged on the +5V line. You'll get some air flux in a quiet way. :-D |
