Description: Well the local library in the town I live in has a Amiga 4000T running a Scala production mixed in with some of the live broadcast streams for our local programming. On day I think they had a power outage and this is what I saw on our tele... One day I'm going to be able to go into the control room and actually get a chance to see it up close Picture Stats: Views: 2213 Filesize: 117.46kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: justthatgood at March 08, 2007, 01:07:01 AM Image Linking Codes

justthatgood Posts:579 | March 12, 2007, 01:38:23 PM @weirdami Up here in the back hills of Indiana. Matter of fact back in the day we used to have a lot of hardcore techies live here because we used to have Magnavox here, and a lot of high tech government contractors. Everything from Altair lovers, Macintosh huggers, Commodore worshippers, Atari geniuses, and everything inbetween. Nothing like having a conversation with people that used to be able to write code in binary, and tell about how during the winter they would go into the actual Computer Room to stay warm. But of course during military spending cuts, and other economic depressions those industries for the most part left the state for cheaper markets. There are a few people still around because of family, friends and jobs. Until we can get the state educated back on track. About the library's channel, they started it back in 1983 I think. They had two Sony cams and a few switchers. It was really low budget, but they made it through. One day I'm going to have to get a tour and put it on YouTube or something. Really interesting stuff. The fact they actually let the community touch the stuff (after the workshops) is amazing. Now they have tons of high tech stuff in there, digital editing, I'm sure HDTV stuff. Of course the Amiga 4000T is pushing the Macromedia presentation on our Channels 58 and 54 I think,I know about 58. Even my school's A/V room had an Amiga. We used to have this Amiga wiz make Lightwave presentations for our schools tv program. I'm sure there are more then enough Amiga fans around the city, but they probably went and faced the reality of things when the company went belly up. Who knows. |
justthatgood Posts:579 | March 12, 2007, 03:43:05 AM Well first I would have to get a chance to actually go back to the library (not easy when you work a 10-7p schedule.) Add in that I don't have my own vehicle working, so it's going to be sometime before I get down there. I think they want me to also do a workshop before they let me in the control room. But I will because it's all kinds of fun. |

justthatgood Posts:579 | March 11, 2007, 12:37:31 PM I was almost certain they had other Amigas at in the studio too. I don't think they are thinking about upgrading anytime soon, since they have a lot of die hard Amiga type that still come in the library. Ah and all the good InfoChannel 500 goodness... |
motorollin Posts:8669 | March 11, 2007, 10:24:31 AM I know. jk :-) -- moto |
Framiga Posts:4096 | March 10, 2007, 11:49:23 PM erm nope, moto! ... that kind of installations must be more clean/light/fast and reliable as possible. Eye-candy is not required nor advisable :-) |

Ral-Clan Posts:1979 | March 08, 2007, 03:49:21 PM How neat! If I ever came across a place like this using Amigas I would talk to their IT person and emphatically let them know I was a local Amiga enthusiast. 1) I would offer volunteer hardware/softwaresupport; 2) I let them know I would be interested in taking/buying their Amiga stuff when they finally 'upgrade' (a few users on Amiga.org have acquired A4000Ts this way!). |
