Description: This is an other crazy project of mine!. Its actually in wip state, but looks ready. This is how i see the next case of an amiga. I made this so that you still see the Amiga shapes but its small and compact. The idea was to make the case so that you dont need to open everything just to look inside. A1200 motherboard size. The keyboard can be attached to get the old look but might work with bluetooth? I was going to make a 3d print of this model in 1:50 scale but it would cost more than 2 x A4000 sooo i just render it ![]() Picture Stats: Views: 3033 Filesize: 170.02kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: Guest at March 06, 2007, 06:22:24 PM Image Linking Codes

AMC258 Posts:877 ![]() | January 18, 2008, 04:01:09 AM Totally impractical. What's nice about an A3000 or an A2000 is that you can stack four of them on top of one another and still put a 100# monitor on top of that. Also, can we please finally put "Delete" on the "Del" key, or are we still like C= trying hard to be peeceeish? And "Control" on "Ctrl" And, put "grill" lines on the keyboard like the A3000 keyboard. |
AJCopland Posts:909 | July 31, 2007, 10:31:40 PM It is pretty different and I like it despite seeing some practicality issues :-D A couple of ideas might be to hinge the lifting section on the left hand side of the case and to make the CD/DVD drive bay a front sliding version. Erm not a very good description, but take for example the bays on the Antec P182 midi tower case, you just slide the drive in from the front and it clips in. So much nicer than taking the machine apart to fit a standard sized drive. It just means there's two finger slots and clips, one on either side of the drive. A really nice render and a good retro look. As usual your renders are also amazing! Andy |
Guest | April 16, 2007, 12:27:17 AM![]() Ok here is a small update.. added 4 usb ports power button and so on. Just did notice that i have a very bad clor problem with my two monitors CRT... Dont know how to fix it ... its off topic i know but any help would be very nice. see the image: ![]() |
LoadWB Posts:2901 | March 25, 2007, 07:29:05 AM It's an interesting concept. To take the concept further, let's consider some items on my agenda. It should be mostly USB based, but also support Firewire. I know, the scream is Firewire is more expensive, but I will tell you, hand to $_DEITY, Firewire is better than USB2 -- it's bi-directional, daisy-chainable as well as hubbable, faster, and Firewire800 is the shizznit. Okay, so the floppy system should be USB, hard drive system should be SATA or SATA2 (with support for SATA CD and DVD drives.) Internally it should sport PCI and/or PCIe. The beauty of PCIe, when properly implemented, is that it looks no different to the system than standard PCI, but is oodles faster. I was skeptical of the new PCIe system, but after reading a few white papers, I'm sold. Same with SATA vs SCSI, again when properly implemented (read as "not cheap.") The keyboard, Bluetooth indeed. And the system should have a Bluetooth 2.0 transceiver with a good Bluetooth stack. If you want to dock the keyboard, it will connect via a USB port and then charge itself. Take a look at USB with 5v, 12v, and 24v auxiliary power ports for a good idea on this one -- it's what Dell uses on laptops for external media devices, and NCR registers use to power things like scanners. Now I'm going to bed. |

amigean Posts:302 ![]() | March 08, 2007, 12:01:19 PM I like it - the grills give it a very distinct 80s-90s look, would make a nice case for minimig, or even other amigoid hardware However, ergonomics might be an issue... where would you put a monitor? On top of the case? behind it? could you do a render with the doors closed? |
Guest | March 07, 2007, 01:35:45 PM Wooow, really nice to get that much feedback and comments. Well this was the first early proto that i made... - The "wings": i like to peek inside my machine ![]() - Two disk drives? : the place is same as to the CD. I put them there just to see what kind of tuff one can stick in it. - The shape: might change alot if "ifff" ill proceed. -Keyboard: idea was that it is seperate but there is a place where you can dock it to get a neat look. ![]() |
nadoom Posts:760 ![]() | March 07, 2007, 01:17:19 PM you know you have the beginnings of a new case for the minimig, just cut down the size and make sure you keep the amiga style grills(tm) and you have it made! beautiful |
Perttu Posts:11 ![]() | March 07, 2007, 01:16:20 PM > The Delorian of computer cases She's not the only one with gullwing doors you know. Personally, the rear of the case reminds me of certain Lamborghini models, namely MurciƩlago and Gallardo as well as the lone LM001. |
HellCoder Posts:279 | March 07, 2007, 08:25:37 AM The keyboard is wireless not ?, so it doesn't have to be attached to the case. But if you do attach it this will charge the wireless keyboard so you don't need to change batteries. So if you leave work, attach the keyboard and leave. I like it! |
Amiduffer Posts:1601 | March 07, 2007, 02:54:31 AM The Delorian of computer cases? :-D Its a unique design, but when was the last time anyone made a desktop computer? The keyboard should not be in the way of the disk drive. And why two disk drives? Wouldn't it be better to have a USB port instead of an extra disk drive? |
cv643d Posts:1197 | March 06, 2007, 10:25:09 PM It is a nice render, but sorry I do not like it ![]() Why would you want to hook up your keyboard to your computer chassi? It does not look like the old look when it is attached to the big box. Why not lift off the whole top instead of those doors, do you want to take peeks inside your computers from time to time? ![]() Floppy and CD on the side just looks weird, even Lian Li uses it on a cube they have, but even if they are the kings of chassi manufacturers it just looks WRONG! |
