Description: This is the board manufactured by Power Computing that allows one to use a standard PC drive High Density drive (came with a Sony drive) as an Amiga high-density drive. There is a small patch that needs to be run in the starup-sequence. I never was able to get this to function on my A2000, so it's unused. One thing that annoyed me about the board, is that PIN 1 of the connector for the ribbon cable is NOT MARKED on the board (therefore you have to guess which way the ribbon cable is supposed to go on). Due to the lack of anti-static precautions, it may not work at all now, and if it does it could fail in some odd way when it feels like it Yes! Because I held it (for this photo) after taking it out of the anti-static bag it is now garbage. I'd better throw it away! You do understand that humans have to actually TOUCH these things to install them into Amigas, right? Of course, I ground myself first. |

countzero Posts:1938 | May 04, 2007, 09:28:19 AM I found one of these installed at a A2000 I salvaged. It works as standard 880k mode, but I neder knew it could do HD so I never tried ! where can I find the patch ? |
rkauer Posts:3263 | February 10, 2007, 07:07:02 PM I have the external one of these babes. If look carefully, all odd pins are ground (i.e. 1, 3, 5 ...33).:-D Mine, unfortunatelly, died (burn the XL chip). I convert it to a regular DD external drive.:-( |
voxel Posts:322 | February 10, 2007, 01:32:53 PM Is there a squared shape pad for one of the extreme pins? if yes this is the Pin 1 for the cable ;-) |
Ral-Clan Posts:1979 | January 28, 2007, 06:21:20 PM I don't want to sell it because I know one day it will prove useful - and if I sold it the chances of replacing it are almost nil. I'm pretty sure it works as a standard 880K drive from boot-up. |
X-ray Posts:4370 ![]() | January 28, 2007, 10:30:22 AM Does it operate at boot-up in 880k mode? If so, are you selling it by any chance ;-) |
InTheSand Posts:1766 | January 28, 2007, 01:29:47 AM Looks like the same set of components as used in the external version, though the board is neater - I guess this was produced later? - Ali |
