Why RGB to SCART to S-Video won't work
Why RGB to SCART to S-Video won't work

Description: This modified ASCI drawing shows why it is unlikely that a combination of RGB to SCART cable with SCART to S-Video cable would produce any image.

this site says that your ascii is wrong, pin 20 is used in S-video.
it seems that the same pin is used in composite, depends on device how to interpret it?

@Chain:

I've read that you've done the 'hack'. Nice work! It even got me to read the Motorola MC1377P data-sheets. Turns out that the A520 is a near carbon-copy of the reference design the datasheets of Motorola show. Might take my A520 (for some unkown reason it doesn't work) to pieces and use parts of it to translate Motorola's reference design into a S-Video converter to put in the A4000's video-slot ;-)

I've written a small review on a VGA box to get the Amiga's video signal to display on a monitor. One of the responding people suggest going the route of getting a RGB to SCART cable and hook that to a SCART to S-Video cable. I tried to illustrate why it WON'T work, using ugly ASCI typing. Now that formatting seemed to get scrambled in some ocassions that's why I made it a PNG image.

Thats why i´ve modified A520 modulator. It isnt that sharp like output from dvd player, but really better than poor composite video.

Not sure to have understood well.

Amiga RGB port, doesn't carries Luma nor Chroma signals required by S-Video.

Wheres the point of such cable/scheme?
