djbase Posts:996 | February 09, 2006, 04:43:14 PM I think its hacked into WinUAE because of running out of memory if you use WHDLoad i.e. where games sometimes need nearly the whole chip ram. |

Matt_H Posts:6412 | February 08, 2006, 07:17:08 PM I'm curious as to why the WinUAE authors bothered to implement the 8MB CHIP hack in software. It's not like there's any software that supports it... unless I'm missing something. Anway, from what I understand of the hackware, for that jumper to work you'd need an 8MB SIMM in the the CHIP RAM slot and an upgrade to Alice that doesn't exist. On the final revision of the 4000 motherboard, the CHIP SIMM slot was replaced by RAM soldered directly to the board, so it was clear that even Commodore knew they'd never be producing such a revised chip. Besides, the whole system would have been replaced by AAA if things hadn't gone bad. |
Blade Posts:24 ![]() | February 08, 2006, 02:08:38 PM The A4k never had 8 MB Chipram. This myth comes from a jumper which says 8 MB, but that never worked, IIRC that was meant for a possible Upgrade for the GFX Chips, which never happend. |
