there MUST be only one FPU connected or else it might fry.

and yes, it works if you can solder plcc socket here.
ive seen some pics (on cd32 allianz site?, probably)

Im pretty sure that surface mount array is for a 68881 FPU. I seem to remember the FPU being shown on the A1200 circuit diagrams.

I dont see any reason why soldering a 68881 in won't work, except what will happen when a accelerator card with, say, a 68882 is plugged in? Could the FPU "Let go" as well as the 68EC020's do? Or would the FPU's fry each other?

incidentally - does the 020EC have provisions for an FPU ?
Certainly does, or else all those RAM+FPU cards for the A1200 would have been nothing but a RAM expansion.

I don't think anyone ever tried putting an FPU on the board there, but I could be wrong, I think if one was put there most likely it would run at exactly the same speed as the CPU, because it would be timed by the same clock signals.

The Fpu i think

hmmm...has anyone ever tried it ?

of course, it would probably only run at either a) the speed of the 68020EC, or 28MHZ, which IIRC is the clock speed of the motherboard.

???

Never noticed that empty surface mount at the very front B4.  What would go there?

Having the Amiga bare mobbo on the carpet, its not a very sane way to keep it away from the static discharges.

Be carefull dude
