Description: I want to keep my Amiga, as original as possible :-) So when I have to add a CD rom in it, I was thinking why not use the “original” line, there is in the design. ;-) Is a Slimline Slotin CD-R/DVD. And now you are thinking, who does he got the CD out again?? :-? Is simple, just push the reject button.. :-P The cd drive has been places so close to the front, that you just by a simple push reject the cd. :-D Picture Stats: Views: 2607 Filesize: 148.51kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: hakker at June 22, 2005, 11:30:51 AM Image Linking Codes

weirdami Posts:3776 | January 10, 2008, 08:21:10 AM So the bezel (or whatever that's called) will flex enough when you push it that the eject button will work? |
AMC258 Posts:877 ![]() | December 15, 2007, 02:31:57 AM Bah! Do that with an A3000 and I'll be impressed. Okay seriously, I am impressed. It's the kind of thing I would do. It's always great when people look inside my Jeep and say "It didn't come from the factory that way, did it?" with that tone of voice meaning they really aren't sure. |
Framiga Posts:4096 | June 13, 2007, 07:28:06 PM excellent! it deserve a 10! |
weirdami Posts:3776 | March 24, 2007, 02:51:12 AM Can you show us a picture of the CD drive you used? It looks like it would have to be pretty skinny to get the CD to come out so close to the disk drive. |
Tomas Posts:2828 ![]() | February 12, 2007, 04:13:02 PM Quote Clever. But I guess I don't see the point. I guess you can fit a fourth HD instide now but other than that? He wanted it to look as orginal as possible. |
rkauer Posts:3263 | February 08, 2007, 07:54:17 PM I think this is the most clever hack I see in an Amiga! Congrtulations, dude! :-D |
Brian Posts:1604 | December 23, 2006, 09:33:37 PM This is one of the ideas I came up with for 8bit's machine during one of our many nerding/brainstorming/rom+cola -nights. I'm usualy the one helping out with ideas while 8bit is the one who makes them into reality. ![]() |

weirdami Posts:3776 | November 27, 2006, 08:44:59 AM I still don't get where the eject button is. |
pierre Posts:375 ![]() | July 20, 2006, 09:06:26 PM nice so you used a slip cd-r drive? |
Dr_Righteous Posts:1345 | September 10, 2005, 04:39:34 AM @ countzero Depends... Insert a Windoze CD in that drive and see what it's called! |
countzero Posts:1938 | September 07, 2005, 01:27:58 PM I guess it is actually a "eject" button and not a "reject" button :-P |

That's because it is indeed a PC case... C= had loads of Cases left over from their 386/486 PCs, and it was cheaper for them to recycle/hack them for the A4000, rather than making the good looking black case you see on the A4000 prototypes. -Paul Btw excellent work!!! Not only does it look good, it also leaves more precious airspace inside the A4000 for cooling purposes. |
krize Posts:455 | July 14, 2005, 08:56:48 PM very nice mod!! never seen it before, clever man ![]() |
hakker Posts:72 ![]() | June 24, 2005, 08:53:49 PM :-o ups,, But it has been changes.. (not a updated picture ) And btw it was a Led for SCSI hd'en. ;-) But as it is now, the H.Disk led is "only" for Scsi hd' and for the CD there is placed a new LED behind the CD backplan, so when Cd is active, you can see the LED’s light truth it.. :-P Now working, but still in test, is a laser there is going to be places, in the PSU, the laser hits a unbalances mirror, so is making a small circle, on the backside of the cd-backplan, and I will say it looks really nice :-D (we are taking about a laser LED from a pocket flashlight ) |
adolescent Posts:3056 | June 23, 2005, 09:52:13 PM If that's the intention, then why the funny non-standard keylock? I guess I just don't consider the lines of the A4000 to be that good to begin with. (It's one of the more "PC" looking cases Commodore made...) |
x56h34 Posts:2921 | June 23, 2005, 02:31:26 PM The point of this hack was not to tamper with the original case design too much. Sure, he could have slapped in a regular CD drive, however this way he pretty much keeps the original A4000 looks intact, with the added spice of the almost invisible cd loading hole. :-) |
