Jiggly BNC's on Video Toaster 4000
« on: March 19, 2007, 10:35:46 AM »
Are the BNC connectors on the Video Taoster 4000 supposed to be jiggly? Is that so you don't hurt your expensive VT card with the cables?

Is there such thing as an RCA <-> BNC convertor?

I have 3 VT 4000 cards and the BNC's are nice and tight on all of them. The BNC cables fit on securely as well.

Yes they do make BNC to RCA adapters. I am using them myself.

If the BNC's are loose on your toaster 4000, remove the board. Them locate two screws that secure the BNC board to the main toaster board (if you have a toaster manual it will have pictures and a removal write up). Remove the screws then unplug the small BNC board(notice where it was plug in, there are two sets of pins, one for 2000 and another set for the 4000). If look closely at the ground on the BNC connector you will notice the solder joints are loose where the case of the BNC's attach to the small board, resolder, that should take care of it. :-)
Yes there are BNC to RCA connector, I believe a set of 5 connectors came with the toaster board.

In most cases it is just the screws that attach the board to the main card that are loose.

Go Here for the adapters. There are many places to buy them locally as well.

I got some RCA/BNC converters at RadioShack for $5 apiece.

Yeah, that's what's going on. I just thought I'd check to see if they were like that on purpose before just tighening the board and maybe causing harm or something.

Tanky infoses.
