Worms DC and HD Problem
« on: March 22, 2004, 10:30:46 AM »
I have tried to get Worms Directors Cut to work(crash after all disk loaded) on my new AmigaTech A1200 for a time now. Then I thought that the only thing thats not orginal on the amiga is the harddrive which is a 8GB IBM(I think) laptop drive. So i booted with both mouse buttons(hey i just resently found out you could do that) and diabled all HD partions and other stuff and booted from disk and it worked. Why doesnt Worms DC work with my HD?.
hdw:
µ-A1-C - OS4.0-PR-U2, 256MB || A1200D - NetBSD(part), 50MHz, 32MB RAM, 6GB HD || A600 -  OS2.4, 2MB RAM, 60MB HD  || 2xA600 - OS2.4 || AMD - FC3, 1GHz || VIA Mini-Itx - Debian, 533MHz || Aqua PS2

Hard disks uses up some memory for buffering purposes. How much memory does your A1200 have?

I doubt it has anything against your HD....  Probably either low RAM, or a system patch that is getting loaded in the startup-sequence on your HD that the game doesn't like.  (FBlit will crash Worms, IIRC.)

Hence, booting without HD partitions mounted gives you more free RAM, and, of course, no patches loaded.  You should be able to get the game to work by simply booting with the "No Startup Sequence" option, even with all HD partitions, etc, left available.  It's just ye olde software conflict....

I have 2mb chip only.
but i tried booting without startup sequence and that doesnt work.
So i guess i have not enought ram then, but that would not be a problem after I have bought a 68060 accelerator with 32 or 64 mb :-D
