i got my CD32 through the mail
« on: November 21, 2003, 09:32:19 PM »
WoohOOooOoo
I got 2 CD32's through the post... with a selection of games. But they all suck! Soccer Superstars, Death Mask and JetStrike.

Guys what games should I get on the CD32?

Brian the Lion CD32
SuperFrog CD32
ChaosEngine CD32
Lemmings CDTV

Brian the Lion is one of the best platformers ever, and the CD32 version puts the other two versions (AGA/ECS) to shame.

I just was playing with the CD player... the CD player rocks. I should have got one of these years ago

BAH no ports for an external floppy drive and no parallel port as standard. booh! bad commodore...

Does anyone know of a faster CD-Rom that can be used to replace the Sony KSM-2101BAM on the CD32? Or a DVD-Rom that is the same style?
edit:
PSone uses KSM-440 CD mechanism, looks funky but looks like the lens is at the top looking down while the CD32 is all at the bottom looking up. BAH

MantisSpider:

I have a DVD thats the same style and I am attempting to get it into the CD32.............problem is, I don't know squat about electronics and have blown up about 3 CD32's :-(..............I am alsso daring enough to get the Full Motion Video Card and the SX32 installed at the same time. Hope someone will help me who knows better.

By the way....the CDTV audio interface was nicer or more professional looking rather..........I was able to emulate it through my A1200 but couldnt get it to play CD's....also tried it with the CD32 but it kept confusing it's own CD interface with the CDTV's!!  very wierd!   it seems to me they are the exact samething and access the same address on the motherboard, I think they just changed the interface for the CD32 slightly.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

You sure should get Microcosm,as it is THE game for the CD32. Imagine alls this introvideo playback and the levelbackground streamed directly from CD on a machine that exceeds the specs of an bare A1200 only in one Point: the Akiko-chip.
Rise of the Robots is nice too, gameplay isn`t that good, but graphics are nice plus you don`t have to wrestle with the 20 or so disk of the A1200/A4000 Version.
AlienBreed TowerAssault has a real cool an long intro in addition to the normal disk version.
No CD32 is halfway complete without Wingcommander. It is a little slow, but it is the AGA-version that never made it to floppydisk.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.
