The SIIA, Let’s go!
« on: July 26, 2002, 07:00:16 PM »
The SIIA (International Show of Alternative Computing) is launched and planned for the end of the year in Sainte Marie de Redon close to Redon in Brittany (France).

The site http://siia.free.fr opens its doors in order to allow the future visitors, exhibitors and partners to be recorded.

The purpose of the SIIA is to become the show of the alternative computing (Amiga, Atari, RiscOS...) most significant of the world (only that?).  The bet is launched...

The site will be in constant evolution in the next days.  It already makes it possible to be recorded in order to hold places to expose, to choose topics of debates or to put themselves on a list in order to have prices the SNCF and housing.

I think this is a great Idea, and is one I've been thinking about recently.  The "alternative computing" communities have been hurting a lot recently, and banding together could be a good way of doing business.  Don't get me wrong, I like Amiga shows like WOA-SE, but getting together with other minority platforms could allow for a better venue, which otherwise would not be economically viable.

Other things that suffer at economies of scale, such as magazines could also benefit.

Just my opinion :-)
