Mine would have to be when I finally completed Turrican II.

It was the perfect kick-ass game best played after a bad day at college.

I immediately thought of three:

Cannon Fodder, Alien Breed 3D, and Breathless - completed all three!

Cannon Fodder - very addictive and playable, fantastic fun... shame about the sequel.

Alien Breed 3D and Breathless - very atmospheric, my first taste of 3D gaming, difficult but fun to play.

Still trying to get Alien Breed 3D II TKG to work with WinUAE... I didn't own an Amiga fast enough to play it when it was released, and I still don't own an Amiga fast enough now (to play at a reasonable frame rate)!
Incidentally, has anyone ever managed to get the AB3DIITKG RTG patch on Aminet working?

Steve.

Millennium 2.2 could be it... no, it's Elite1... but...

Bah, I do not want to pick any single game:
Millennium 2.2
Elite1
Elite Final Frontier
Barbarian1 (psygnosis)
Defender of the Crowm
Railroad Tycoon
Deuteros
Foundation
SimCity2000
Civilization
F/A-18 Hornet
Boulderdash
BubbleBobble
....

They all gave some special moments...

Then there were the multiplayer games: Stunt car racer, fire power, TurboRaketti...

aaaargh.... all those nostalgia feelings, they almost make me cry ...  I wish I had time to play them again someday

God that's weird. I was just about to start a thread asking the same question...

My top five, in no particular order, are:

1. Flying under the Golden Gate Bridge in F-18 Interceptor, and switching between the various out-of-cockpit views to take it all in. This was one of those moments when I sat back and thought "Wow, I'm glad I bought an Amiga".

2. Finally battling my way onto the roof of the cathedral in Batman only to see the Joker halfway up the ladder. Thinking I'd blown it, I launched the Batarang towards him in a fist-shaking moment of frustration... to see him fall off the ladder and plummet to his doom.

3. Doing battle with the giant splitting orb at the end of the third spaceship level in Turrican 2. I've yet to see this section bettered for sheer unadulterated arcade perfection. The 360 multi-layered parallax scrolling and the orb's treacherous splitting and slamming together makes for a relentless, dizzying and exhausting experience.

4. Trading insults instead of blows in Monkey Island. What a fantastic, original idea. There's so much humour and wit in Monkey Island and it's such an atmospheric game. This was one of the most enjoyable parts - trudging around the island looking for a fight to try out your newly learned insults in.

5. Two-player games of Lotus 2. Although hugely enjoyable on its own, having a mate around to race in Lotus 2 is always infinitely more enjoyable. We've often spent entire evenings ramming each other off the road or into trees while giggling like two 8 year olds.

My best moments would have to be in-

Stuntcar Racer: Using a null MODEM cable and racing various clumbsey drivers. Watching somebody navigate the "Rollercoaster" track for the first time is funny! :-D

F16:Combat Pilot: Of course flying under bridges is fun, but way to easy. My best moment was flying back to base on VERY low fuel. I went into finals for landing, but was going to touch down too late to stop, so I thought I`d go round n have a better go. I forgot about the fuel and put full throttle on. I had literly 5 seconds of fuel before running out. I tipped the nose down a bit, then pulled up and did a loop. It was a struggle from the angle I was at, but I managed to land safely and stop. I was happy.

B17:Flying Fortress: I managed to somehow fly from the top of France back to the UK on 1 engine. I had to cool the engine with the fire extingushers before they blew up. Suffice to say I landed wheels up on the nearest peice of the UK I could find. :-)

Armourgeddon: There must be some for this game! Can`t remember any though.

My best gaming moment was probably completing Cannon Fodder with my long time Cannon-Fodder Hero, Jops.  I carried that little blighter ALL the way through the entire game - I got really attached to the little fellas.  If Jops ever got shot I became very angry, unleashing a rain of terror on the culprit - shooting him so his body stayed in the air until he dissapeared off the screen hehehe

I also enjoyed Frontier Elite very much.  I remember spending the entire lead up to Christmas re-reading reviews of that game, dreaming about becoming an interstellar trader, a pirate or a rich assasin.  I finally got the game on Christmas day and pretty much stayed on it for MONTHS afterwards.  Good game that was, it's probably high on my list of required ports for the Amiga platform - it'd be great to see a newer version ported here.  Hyperion? :)

My best gaming moments would have to be ...

1. Armour Geddon Multiplayer.

That was one bloody huge game... I remember flying wingman with a mate for about 30minutes in one direction and never reaching the edge of the map.  Exploring the mountains and finding new cities..

2. Lotus Challenge 2 Multiplayer.

4 players over a null modem..  I thought.. wow.. 4 player simultaenous..  awesome :)  Top game that..  Did anybody ever notice the quiet little sample in the ripped title tune that wispered over your speakers "YOU WILL NOT COPY THIS GAME"?

3. Another World.

Awesome atmosphere in this one.. First time I played it was on a rainy night..  perfect weather for this game ...

4. Hunter.

Mind blowing freedom of movement..  One time I was playing and accidently bailed out of a chopper..  I hit the parachute and managed to get to dry land..  I boarded a boat and headed north..  then about a minute later.. I hear a chopper coming down on top of me!!  It was the one that I bailed on back down the bottom of the map :)    This game had sooo many nice touches.. sharks, birds, trees, vehicles..  beautiful work.

Just a couple of moments :)  And that's why I still have all my amigas...

Finishing Ultima IV
Finishing Ultima V
Seeing Defender of the Crown for the first time on an A 1000.
Seeing Bard's Tale in a journal, a review of some gaming fair... and then playing it and finishing it :)
Playing and finishing the SSI AD&D series... (not that Hillsfar stuff, the Champions of Krynn and the Forgotten Realms series!!)

Have fun,

Discovering Dungeon Master at my local dealer on the day of it's release, then actually playing it and being absolutely blown away. Then, to top it all off, a week and a half later finishing it. Probably the single best (single person) gaming experience I've ever had.

Settlers, CIV and SimCity were also great on the Amiga, I pissed weeks of my life away playing those..., but Dungeon Master just stands out above the rest in my memory.

The next great gaming moment for me was when I discovered Betrayal at Krondor on the PC - from that point on I was hooked on PC games. (Please no flames, I'm sure that game by itself cost me 20% on my university grades that semester :).

Hi,

My best gaming moment was the 1st day I bought my brand new Amiga 1000 when they first came out and then bought Arctic Fox by Electronic Arts. The reason I love playing this game is that it is possible to beat it if you use the right strategy. The 2nd best game I played was Dungeon Master.  I really got a thrill the day they ported over Doom to the Amiga. This game shows up on every Amiga and PC I own. I don't know how many games for the Amiga I have but every now and then I go to ebay and buy another just to collect Amiga Programs.

ok, it may be just me, but living more then 5 minutes in ANY Shadow of the Beast game was a memory to never forget

Seriously, It would have to be having my anti-amiga friend over and getting him hooked on "Serch and Destroy".

The multiplayer was one person in the gunners seat and the other the pilot.  Don't think I was ever the gunner :pissed:

THAT was a game and a moment!  i can still hear the digitized voice yelling "Finish him off" or the chukeling "over kill"......

Good Stuff

Well, my all time favourite game is Elite 2 - Frontier but I never made it to the Elite rank (somone here who has?).

Another favourite was Lotus 2 which I used to play against a friend in split-screen mode until he got so good that he became hard to beat...

Gauntlet 2 isn´t so bad either, I still play it on my A500 but it´s kind of dull when you don´t have anyone else to play it with.

The most game related fun I've had with an Amiga was back when my mate had two Miggies, and we were stoned (I was young and crazy ;-)) and playing Worms. We switched over to the other machine to watch some demo or other and forgot we'd left Worms running. About half an hour later we kept hearing this high-pitched 'Hello!' and we were getting so freaked out because we were too f**ked to work out where this noise was coming from.

God I hate drugs.

What do you dislike about Cannon FodderII? I thought it was as much fun as the original.

My picks:

1.   Head to head air combat verses a buddy of mine with F-16 Falcon via 2 Amigas connected by NULL modem. (over a few beers)...

2.   Flying as my buddy's wingman with Flight of the Intruder with 2 Amigas via NULL Modem (also over a few beers)...

My buddy rented the appartment below mine, and we drilled a hole through my floor in order to connect our amigas back in the late '80s. We were able to communicate by voice in real time over the telephone, the most important reason being the immediate requirement to 'PAUSE' and reload beers... I mean weapons...

I've always considered Dungeon Master the best Amiga game ever (and yes,  I finished it a few times). It's atmosphere is like nothing else. I liked the sequels as well (although I never did finish DM2).

Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 was a fun multi-player game. So was Wayne Gretzky Hockey. Loved pulling the goalie when he had posession of the puck - the extra attacker would come onto the ice but the goalie takes the puck with him so game play continues without the puck and all the AI players go mental! :-D

Populous and Power Monger were also amazing games, spent many hours conquering virtual lands and people...

Of course, I think the first game I ever played was Marble Madness, so I suppose I should mention that. Other great classics include Menace, Barbarian, Fire Power, Speedball, Turrican, and one of my all time favorite shoot-em-ups: BattleSquadron (which I finished several times)!

Yes, im a devoted gamer,
but I only play(ed) the good games.
I cant stand boring games with weak,
or no playability.

-Powermonger might be the game I've
 got the most affected to.

-Space Quest 1 2 & 3 had a fun atmosphere.

Geez!  All the times I've played WGH, I've never tried that!  (Why would I?  Usually pull the goalie for a deep zone face-off or other posession at the far end of the ice...)  Never thought to try it when he had the puck!  haha!!!

Not on Amiga, but on the PC version of NHL 2000 or so, my friend and I were playing as teammates and really gooning up a game.  We were already short-handed 5-3, and on the next play we each managed to pick up a 5-min major a game misconducts.  Already shorthanded 5-3, those two penalties forced the remaining player, and our goalie to serve the two majors.   (They were the only players on the ice at the time)   The camera panned around and sure enough, our goalie is sitting in the box, gear and all.  The backup goalie is now in net.  So, wondering what would happen next, we just played normally, so the penalties would expire.  They let our goalie out of the box, and he assumed the left wing.  I almost peed myself it was so funny seeing the goalie (still in full gear, painted mask, and goalie stick) skating into position for a 1-timer.  He golfed at it like he was trying to clear the puck.  Unfortunatly, it flew out of play over the glass, and then the computer set the team back to normal...  But our sides were still hurting from the laughter.

Brings back sooooooo many good memories reading this thread, and makes me realise why the Amiga was such a popular machine with a massive variety of games, - and a serious side too.

My favourite games are Populous and Civilization, so much depth and so many different ways to play, it was like a different experience every time you played.

Cheers to Sid Meier for the best Amiga games ever  :pint:  :pint:  :pint:

Armourgeddon: There must be some for this game! Can`t remember any though.

My best moments with that game go something like this:

Fighter: Get airborne, take a few seconds to note the scenerey, [BOOM] [BOOM] [BOOM], involuntary landing.

Bomber: Get airborne, gather where I'm supposed to fly, fly for about twelve seconds, [BOOM] [BOOM] [BOOM], prove Sir Isaac Newton correct.

Hovercraft: I get the engine started. I successfully master the "spin". Not much else goes right. [BOOM] [BOOM] [BOOM]

Heavy Tank: This actually showed promise. It was in the heavy tank that I first realized there was more to the game than a fireworks show followed by a brief plunge. I vaguely remember finding the first piece of the neutron bomb with the heavy tank.

Light Tank: Much like the heavy tank, but everything happens quicker.

I think my funniest moment is watching my brother (Cyka) go head long over the rollercoaster head-to-head. I was following his shadow as he fell back onto the track. Suffice to say he smashed his car on landing :-)

My most annoying moment was on lap 198 of Indianapolis 500 I was very low on fuel so put the mixture down a couple of notches. Bad mistake cause 2nd place somehow managed to catch me up. I put the mixture back to full, but somehow couldn`t get back into 1st place. I wasn`t pleased :-) I`ll have to have a go at that again one day.

Armourgeddon is one game I`ve always wanted to have many good moments on, but never got to :-( Disks died and all manner of bad luck!

Frontier:Elite II has had so many moments. One time when i approached a planet a tad quick. I tried everything to slow down. I tried my downward thruster. When I went through the atmosphere it took about 2 seconds. Spectaculator view it was too. Damn good game!

Finishing License to Kill on the Amiga without any cheats. That was a great feeling. :-)

My best moments has to be:

Stunt Car Racer: me and a friend, using nullmodem-cable to hook up two A500. On one track, I was far ahead, and thought I should tease my friend. So, I started driving in reverse, at the same time he was driving as fast he could forward to catch me up. I made a backward jump, and at the same time he made a forward jump, and we collided in the air. We never managed that since =)

F-18 Interceptor: First time I saw this game (around 1989) runing on a friend's A500 , I was "doomed/hooked" I knew I just had to buy an Amiga. I later bought that game from that friend. I still have the game and the box. The intro-music used to give me the chill each time, as I knew the action was soon starting.

F16 Combat Pilot: We used nullmodem-cable. I tried to learn a friend to handle the air-craft. We did a dogfight, I said "only machinegun, no rockets". He said "ok" We was approaching eachother, suddenly the alarm went off in my plane, by a mistake he had fired off all his rockets against me from close range. No big surprise, he "got me" =)

Pulling off ridiculous manoeuvres in Gravity Force 2 in 2 player mode.  What an awesome game that was for playability! :-D

When I got my Amiga home for the first time back in 1989 or whenever it was, and booting it up to watch the Shadow of the Beast intro....

But for actual games playing...

Trading insults on Monkey Island, playing Settlers (just the demo to start with!) for hours. Playing the cool snow levels on Cannon Fodder. Playing Gods - such a polished game! Getting a 512k RAM expansion for my A500 so I could finally play Prince of Persia! Sitting with mates commenting on how the guy in Magic Pockets looked like he was getting a massive hard-on when his pants expanded. Playing through Syndicate to the impossible last level. And playing Wings - what a classic!

But the best moment, was probably playing Monkey Island 2 with one disk drive! ;)

And how could I forget Speedball 2, Lotus TC, Chaos Engine and Zool!

Another great moment for me was finishing Beyond Good and Evil on the PC. I know, it's a PC game but who cares. The game is unbelievable and it is by far the best action adventure since the days of OnEscapee. The end was just EPIC!

I think mine have to be Playing Hybris and Blasteroids.  Only because these were the first games I got for my first Amiga (500).

Other than that, wasting MANY nights on link-up Stunt Car and Populous.  The populous music used to drive my mum crazy!

One of the best Amiga gaming moments for me, was when my brother and I played Napalm over serial ink against each other. He was a bit ahead of me, when I camoflauged a "Nitroglycerin tank" (I think it was called that), and drove it into his base without him noticing it and blow up his command center. That was a great moment of an excellent game.

Top of the list I would place beating the walker in AB3D1 for the first time, that was tough!  A very close second is level 11 on AB3D1, firing a grenade into a room full of badies and watching all the blood fly out of the doorway and splatter on the opposite wall, fantastic stuff! :D

Then comes the double barreled shottie, wonder how many people found it on level 1?  The music and atmosphere of AB3D2 TKG and also completing Dungeon Master 1 & 2, DM1 was the first game I ever completed without cheating :)

Incidentally, has anyone ever managed to get the AB3DIITKG RTG patch on Aminet working?

I've only got the RTG patch working on my real Amiga, but its not really worth the effort, not much speed increase and bugs galore!

I got the standard version of TKG with the TKGPatch (The one that gives you the fps counter) working perfect on WinUAE and it runs really well :)

That reminds me, I should really get round to releasing my 3D objects upgrade for TKG I made 6 years ago one day!

Top 3 gaming moments on my good old A500 would probably be:

- Sensi Soccer: no matter what version, always had (and sometimes still have) loads of fun playing it, particularly the tournaments/leagues with friends..
Also had tons of fun with one of the first demo's of Sensi, the one where you had 3 game modes: normal, black and white and - the best mode - bomb-mode, where the ball was replaced by a bomb which explodes at random times (if someone has an adf image of this demo - please let me know!)

- Chaos Engine, played it over and over again with friends... great game, which was far ahead of its time

- Cannon Fodder - "War has never been so much fun", a bit frustrating at times tho

Geez, there are a lot of great moments now that i think about it, what to think of games like SuperFrog, DynaBlaster, FireForce, SuperCars 2 (best game music ever imho), Speedball 2...

Not to mention the hours i spent playing BubbleBobble....

i could go on and on about this...
All the time i spent on the Amiga could probably be summed up as one long great gaming moment :)

I have this, it was basically an England v Germany demo disk:
England v Germany in 1940 (with the grenade for a ball)
England v Germany in 1966 in black and white (when we won the world cup)
England v Germany in whatever year the demo disk was released in colour :)

Two:
1)  Rescue On Fractalus!  (Atari 800XL)
My heart leapt every time a Jaggie leapt up in front of the ####pit...and the suspense of the steps as the pilot / Jaggie ran up to your spacecraft - just brilliant.

2) Mercenary - Escape From Targ
The sudden realisation that you have a whole WORLD, in 3D vector graphics, to explore...no time limits, you can't "die"...  You're wits againts the game and the way you learned / plot unfolded as you went along and all available in a 48k version too!  Still my vote for best game of all time.

Oh, yeah... Moonstoone multiplayer was ace, especially when you met one of your mates in the same place on the map for a duel.

Swish-swish! Beheaded 'em, YAY! ;-)
