Hey All 8-)
I am trying to get Quake to work on my P.C but I keep running into difficulties so is anyone could help it would be appreciated.
The problem is Quake World and Gamespy
I can run Quake, GLQuake and Quake World but GLQuake world crashes the computer everytime
I have tried starting it from DOS Prompt with glqw verysafe but it still crashes in the same spot
:-? Gamespy must use GLQW as it crashes the comp just the same.
My setup is XFX Mb, XFX Geforce4 Ti4200 + Athlon 1.8+ It`s been a while since I played but I have just met 2 Quake virgins (if you can believe that! :-P ) and promised them it would be great fun online, since we are all stuck with 56k dialup :-( Peace

I hate to ask, but has this got anything to do with Amiga gaming?

Well.. erm.. You can play Quake on an Amiga these days :-D
Anyway... IT can be hard to get usefull help from the overcrowded Window / gamers websites out there..
@Zanthras
It may be because of bad GL and/or GFX drivers.. Try different Drivers for you Geforce card, go for the official nVidia Detonator

Well, yes, but expecting Windows specific help in an Amiga forum is perhaps a bit optimistic...
@Zanthras
IIRC, the GLQuake port for Windows was actually written for the earlier Voodoo cards. This could mean that it actually uses a non-standard implemntation of OpenGL, or somehow expects the Voodoo drivers. I do remember having problems getting this running properly on anything but old Voodoo cards, but it's a long time since I gave it a try.
I might be wrong though.

It bombs on my Voodoo3, too. Either that's too late a revision of Voodoo, or GLQW is an extremely buggy little program. I suspect the latter, so stick with software rendering at high res. It's good enough, in my opinion.
You can adjust which executable (IE, GL or non-GL) GameSpy calls from one of the many sensory-overload Prefs windows.

I know I`m being a cheeky git asking p.c questions here but Amiga users are far more friendly than p.c users :-D i`m also trying to find a site with decent mods and was wondering if there are any amiga user sites out there that I can go check out. Also I would love to play MOHAA but on a 56K modem?? no chance. Quake however still rocks ;-P I should of appologiesed for asking a P.c question first though ;-)
Peace
Zanthras hoping to kick butt but likely to get butt kicked

Mohaa works quite well on a 56k modem as long as you have nothing else running, but its quite laggy if you have an aol connection and use anything above aol 6, Spearhead works even better on a 56k modem i get a ping of around 130 to 180 so not much lag.
