New: ACA-1233, looks like it will support FPU :)

Looks like the comming ACA-1233 will have support for a FPU, looks like it has space for one, either solder it or add a socket, also has space for crystals to set the clock :)

ACA-1233 - just where the 020 space used to be on the ACA-1232.

and here is the ACA-1232:

Nice. Keep in mind the warranty disclaimer, though.  :)

I recently picked up the ACA1232 w/25MHz 030 & MMU. I am quite pleased with it, but was curious about getting a higher clock speed.

I suspect this also voids the warranty, but does anyone know if it would be easy to "upgrade" the processor in an ACA1232? I found someone selling an 40MHz 030 w/ the oscillator. This would not be "overclocking" but a "drop in" solution (if possible with the card, that is).

I already got the ACA-1231/42MHz but am still interested in this and using the 1231 on the A500 instead :) Warranty is already long gone on my ACA-1231 by my own tinkering :)
I would like the ACA-1233 and give a go if I can get a 50MHz 030 running on it :)

You can desolder and solder a faster CPU on your ACA-1232 card and change jumper setting accordingly but it will void the warranty but it's possible.

Hard? Well all depends on your solderin equipment and skills :)

if you swap the 030 for a 50mhz version and change the crystal.
will it work @ 50mhz???

Not possible to know yet if the firmware supports 50MHz or not :/ The 1232 only supported 40MHz but odds are that Jens added support for higher clock speeds this time. Also done via jumpers on the 1232, due to the pick of the SMT 68030FN there is not much to do about the CPU on the 1231 cards.

Got a respone from Vesalia about the FPU:

There's another caveat, you might have to disable burst when using an FPU. This will all be documented in the card's Wiki, please have a look there before fitting an FPU.

Very nice card.
A doubt: the FPU should be at 40MHz too?

BTW: how are these cards compared to "old school" accelerators like GVP, Blizzard and Apollo 1230@50MHz?

p.s.: I guess it will be a 1234@50MHz in the near future… :P

Well some of the old cards have SCSI kits but ACA cards don't, asome old cards supports FPU the older ACA cards don't.
Besides that the cards have good performance:
ACA 1230 @ 42Mhz 64MB = 9.36 Mips
ACA 1231 @ 42Mhz 64MB = 9.98 Mips
ACA 1232 @ 33Mhz 128MB = 7.89 Mips

Tho there have been a lot of timing issues on some A1200 motherboard revisions with the ACA cards, but it's fixable if you are handy with a soldering iron, if not Amigakit has a timing fix service I believe.
