Commodore 64 Parts?
« on: June 03, 2011, 11:25:52 AM »
Guys:

Is there any vendors out there that sells parts for C64's like there is for Amiga's and Atari's? I haven't been able to find anyone and I have an SX-64 that is in really good shape overall, but had a broken keyboard latch. I'd love to get this thing fixed.

Not a vendor but a master repair C= technician is Ray Carlsen.  He has repaired many SX-64's for our club.  He has repaired broken latches on the SX-64's, too.  You can contact him at rcarlsen(at)tds.net

Ahh yes I remember a time before disposable computers.

Does anyone else remember when you'd actually replace a soldered on chip on the motherboard if that chip went bad?

Now just toss the whole computer in the trash and replace.

That's why I love my retro computers. I can actually work on them. Plus there enough new stuff coming out for the C64, Atari ST and Amiga you can always do new and fun stuff with the hardware. Just added a 100 mHz 060 to my Falcon. Thinking about adding a hard drive to the C64 next. Need to add USB to my Amiga 4000T.
