New Amigas to be shown at Amiga Expo
« on: March 02, 2002, 05:09:08 PM »
More information on the upcoming Amiga Expo show.  Sounds like it's shaping up rather nicely.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Amiga Expo and Extreme Computing are pleased to bring you the following press release. Please make plans now to visit Amiga Expo on March 29th-31st at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn in Maryland where you will see all the
latest developments including those from our friends at Extreme Computing!

Extreme Computing (a branch of Extreme Corporation) began reseach and development of new Amiga-based products in the Spring of 1999. With the announcement of the Amiga x86 solution in the Summer of 2001, we began
working overtime to come up with new designs of x86-based hardware that would be powerful, functional, compelling, upgradable, and above all else - Amiga and AmigaDE compliant!

The results have far exceeded our expectations. Our new line of x86 based Amiga hardware will ultimately usher in new levels in design and performance for the Amiga consumer computing experience. The main goal was to give the consumers back a true Amiga system. One where you can take it right out of the box and boot up to an Amiga screen without any hassles or unnecessary complexity.

One of our guiding concepts was to combine classic designs with modern technology - thus bringing you the Amiga X1200 computer system. This system offers the design and compactness of the original Commodore Amiga A1200, but with all new, and blazingly fast, hardware under the hood. The Amiga X1200
is the ideal replacement, or addition, to your Amiga computing needs.

The Amiga X1200 isn't the only exciting new hardware we have coming. Extreme Corporation will have several MORE innovative and powerful Amiga solutions on display at their booth at Amiga Expo. All of these designs are will be shipping with Amiga OS x86(3.9) pre-installed and will come with a full copy of
Nova Design, Inc.'s ImageFX 3.2 on CDROM.  As a special show bonus, all orders placed at Amiga Expo will also come with FREE SHIPPING.

Extreme Corporation (Formerly Amitech Electronics) was founded by Amiga Enthusiasts to assist in providing Amiga Owners with useful tools and information for an ever growing computing experience.

Nova Design, Inc. are the creators of Aladdin 4D and ImageFX - the Amiga's most consistently top-rated image editing and special effects package and are the hosts of Amiga Expo. See us all at the show!

For more information on other exhibits and information about Amiga Expo visit our web site at www.amigaexpo.com and sign up today! Don't forget to get your hotel rooms and banquet tickets! You can order everything online or by toll free number as shown on the web site.

Amiga OS x86? Does that just mean Amithlon? Now I'm really REALLY confused! Is it a hoax?

There are 3 plan for PowerPC emulator for PC. Unfortunately the products are vaporware / unfinished.

http://www.ardi.com/ardi/technology.html

http://www.emulators.com/updates.htm

http://www.microcode-solutions.com/welcome.htm

If the product are finished and compatible with AMIGA OS 4 (or 5), perhaps Extreme Computing can bundle AMIGA OS with 10 GHz Prestonia :)

Amiga x86 was the name Bill McEwen gave to AmigaXL/Amithlon when he presented it at Sacramento last year.

This isn't the same as buying some pc hardware at your local clone guys - this is an Amiga company branding some cool looking hardware and preinstalling Amiga x86 and OS 3.9 - meaning your money supports your platform rather than some clone store that won't help you and may not be there tomorow.

(Pr)Estonia  =)

The Estonia ship was lost in a major accident with huge fatalities and few survivors. Kinda like a nordic Titanic.

BTW, why keep people believing that intel processors are cheaper and deliver more performance? Are these people total airheads? Did they politely inquire the matter at intels PR division? What's the inside story, please tell me.

Go AMD!
*Zap! Zap!* Ha! Take that! *Kabooom!* Hey, that\'s not fair!

i`m still hearing anti-pc hardware vibes, but i`m sick of the way amiga hardware tends to be.. shoddy companies, shoddy equipment...

i `ll probably get slagged off for saying it but amiga companies piss me off - me and others have been messed around by alot of them - especially if ya bought a dodgy ppc card... and those that had one know what i`m saying.

lets get on the cheap hardware bandwagon, cos i`m loving it

Just my opinion, but... THIS IS BLOODY TERRIBLE...

Their going to confuse a lot of people by saying this is x86 Amiga hardware and that they are going to give people OS3.9 x86.

This also seems like a wast of time for Extream. Ahthlon systems can also be used out of the box with OS3.9.

But the worst of it is, that there confusing peopple, *looks at previous posts*.

I could not think of anything worse than this, Amiga Inc, please have a word to these people and try to get them to change their wording fot heir products.

They are taking advantage of consumers who may not know alot about AmigaOS and the Amiga.

This will prolly end up giving the Amiga a bad name, amoung consumers who are going to buy these boards.

I dont like this. What the point in buying one anyway? That is for those of us who know what hey are. AmigaOSPPC should be out in a months time... Why bother buying the Old OS? DE wont run on it.

>SIS 630 S chipset

This "Intergrated / System on Chip / SOC" low cost chipset is a total CRAP.

The intergrated video performance is very poor and there is NO LINUX audio driver. There are problems with LAN / Network portion of the chipset.

This chipset is only used in low cost PC and the PC vendor try to cut cost by using this chipset.

Several LINUX programmers / group try to get the documentation for audio portion of the chipset, but SIS ignored them.
