Is it possible to create similar cluster with P.A. Semi Pwrficient CPUs and Linux/BSD PowerPC OS?
From Inquirer:
A EURO startup is planning to build a distributed supercomputer cluster based around thousands of Apple’s Xserve servers. Omneta is building an Interoute internet-linked cluster using Xserve servers and Xserve RAID arrays in October. The test will be across two sites. If successful, the trial will be extended over the coming year to involve servers placed within Interoute's facilities, possibly involving as many as 150 data centres across 60 European cities. It will put the scalability of Apple's Tiger OS to the test and determine whether or not such a distributed venture will even be possible. Apple has confirmed to eWeek that it is behind the plan and could supply more than 500 servers a day to the project. It might even lend a hand with marketing it if it works. Apple clusters have been successfully tried before, but not on this scale and they have usually been on one site.
