Just saw this image again, and I take back that comment I made 6 years ago (God, is it really that long??) about Manchester being the rain capital of the world... now living in Dublin where it rains pretty much continuously from late August through to late May of the following year, I miss Manchester.

funnily enough, the view over Kingswinford looks about as gloomy now!

bloody ell, used to live in the student village meself.
only good thing about that place was that everywhere within walking distance. trouble was, that everyone else knew that too, so after a hard nights drinking ... erm... revision, it was back to mine for a smoke and a cuppa tea, put some demos on the A4000/030 and watch the stoners trip out.

Right now the only difference for "late Autumn/Winter in Manchester!" is the denuding of the trees. Its still as gloomy

Wow I wonder how you would tell your house appart from others

Easily - it's where the picture was taken from :-P

Still, those old victorian terraces are pretty grim. You can't see them from the main road since theyre concealed by the three storey houses infront ;-)

Thankfully its not raining today but really hot and dry.

A rarity in these parts as others will testify.

Anyway its nice to see that there a more Amiga users from Manchester registered at A.Org.

I think that somebody should set up a new user group in the area.

Maybe we could invite the OS4 on Tour group over to Bowlers computer fair. Sure to attract a lot of interest. Just a thought.  ;-)

Yeah, though i think they may have moved. The shop was a Video Rental shop mostly and one of the large chains opened an outlet nearby.

Heh, I've spent a lot of time working in the Manc area over the past few years, and that's one heck of a familiar picture.

As to the club, I don't think it's still active, but if the guy who set it up is Derek of Classic Amiga (I think that may have previously been Classic PD) then he's still around, but he's stopped trading in Amiga stuff (unsurprisingly).

Indeed! I think the weather is gonna be uncomfortably drippy till the end of the week :-(

nice to see that Manc has a strong Amiga.org presence. I don't think I've ever met any Amiga fans here - you are all probably too busy swimming about.

I'm in Altrincham and the weather is grey and wet. The weather forecast is always the same though,

Wet with sunny spells.    :smack:

Hasn't been like that for a few weeks tho, thankfully :-D

Spoke too soon there.

It was absolutely peeing down here about 6ish this evening.  About 30 mins of solid battering.  It's been dark ever since.

I just hope it's not like that tomorrow about 2pm - I've to go out.

Ah yeah, Longsight - went through it once, but didn't stop :-)  Looks like a nice place though.

BTW, small world.  Just noticed you're an ex-Geordie too.  I'm also from near Newcastle (been in Manchester almost 3 years).

Believe it or not, but that picture was taken at about 2pm!

Today wasn't a lot better either. It's rained itself out but there's still a lot of cloud...

-edit-

Whoops, that's a lie. I just noticed it's p*ssing down further towards town... ;-)

Didsbury, eh?

My how the other half lives! :-)

That mate, strictly speaking is Nutsford Vale in Longsight :-)

The small patch of 'green' in the bottom left corner is the edge of the bowling green adjoning Longsight Cricket Club. The main road running through the picture is East Road which is technically where I live...

The view is looking towards Victoria Park/Rusholme but neither are particularly visible behind the trees and the copious precipitation :-)

The city centre would be off right of the picture but the University of Manchester's Maths tower is just  visible near the right horizon.

A pretty wet day and this morning is no better!

I guess this was taken on Friday?  :-)  Rained non-stop the whole day.  Where is it you live ? I dont recognise the area, but I'm in Didsbury.

Manchester has to be the rain capital of the world.  I've never ever known so much rain as I have since I moved here.
