Exactly what Amiga Software DOES work with MorphOS
« on: September 05, 2010, 06:06:23 PM »
Excuse me but I am a little frustrated here.

I don't know what I am doing wrong but so far I can't get ANY Amiga software to install on my MorphOS Mac Mini.  I've tried Vista Pro, Caligari, etc. and the install crashes everytime lacking one thing or another.  I did get one app to install but when I double-clicked the program icon to launch it nothing happens.  I didn't really think that it was going to be this difficult or I probably would have re-thought my Mac Mini purchase.

Any advice appreciated....

Aladdin 4D 5.x works fine, so do many other software packages.

Pretty much anything that doesn't hit the chipset will work. MorphOS is strange in that it rarely throws up an error message to complain about missing libs or other files. Keep Snoopium close at hand when trying older stuff.

Thanks all for the help.

I just managed to get Imagine 4.0 to work but screen locks up when I open the file requester for loading an object.... grrr.  I guess I better go back to square one and try to read up more online. :(

Imagine is a cool app. You should upgrade to a newer version.

Hi Sandman, I am afraid you picked applications that would not run very well on high-end 68k Amigas with graphics cards either.

Maybe a good start would be to look around in the download section at morphzone.org. As you appear to be interested in 3D applications, you might want to take a look at Blender as well Titler which run natively.

Older 3D applications that are known to work on MorphOS would be Maxon's Cinema 4D and Lightwave 5.x, but the latter might need some special configuration (preview screenmode, etc.).
