Thanks, Crumb. I'm still getting used to my SamFlex on one desk and my Craigslist eMac with newly registered MOS on the other, and I am very glad to learn about CRABUM and the ToolsDaemon functionality. I've always used ToosDaemon on my Amigas and never cared for docks, program launchers or whatever on the Workbench.

I'm configuring my menus now and will work on making my drawer icons not look like folders next. Talk about mixed-up interface metaphors -- the menu still says "new drawer" after all! To really feel at home I'd need draggable screens, but otherwise I'm pretty pleased with MOS on the eMac.

Take a look also at Meridian from Geit to use gestures to switch screens: http://www.geit.de/eng_meridian.html
For screendragging there's a trick you can try out for fun called dragon: http://amigazeux.net/dragon/feat.php   It's obviously not the same as screendragging but it's funny to try it out once.

You can try out "scube" from Kiero, it's another cool trick http://kiero.binaryriot.org/

BTW, there's a "MorphOS Upgrate Pack" done by Papiosaur that contains several apps and saves some time to new users, he'll soon release version 1.60 for MorphOS2.5: http://www.morphzone.org/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7134&forum=3

Fab's E-UAE is here:
http://morphos-files.net/find.php?find=e-uae

Download and unarchive, then look into E-UAE_0.8.29-WIP4/Bonus/readme.morphos for how to configure it to play ball with Ambient.

Here's a post about troubleshooting the installation:

Thank you, I did as much. Copied the files to where the docs told me to put them, then edited them to match my set up (directories and such).

Could not edit Startup_Sequence because there was none (????), so I made the changes to user start up.

Copied my roms to the roms folder, and now after a reboot, when I double click an ADF file, nothing happens.

Does it work directly from CLI?
Say: uae -f Conf/A1200.conf -0 an_A1200_game.adf

And it says:

No file name given for ROM key file and ROM image is an encrypted "Amiga Forever" rom file.

And I've no idea what it's trying to tell me. Of course my ROM file is an Amiga Forever ROM file. Does it want me to rip the real deal off my Amiga 1200 or something?

Two possibilities: Either copy the Amiga Forever ROM keyfile to the Roms/rom.key file and add kickstart_key_file=PROGDIR:Roms/rom.key to all configuration files, or start Amiga Forever with both KS 3.1 (kick.rom) and KS 1.3 (kick13.rom) and save the KS ROM from within the emulation and transfer these files to corresponding locations in Roms directory.

EDIT: I "think" I got it now. My ADF files are resorting to the Red Screen of death, but I'm getting there.

Will tinker more tonight after work.

Thankx!!!

Red means bad ROM checksum.

Oh, the third option is to google some magic keyword. ;-)

Alright, well then it's probably because I renamed the 1200 Kick to kick.rom and that's the rom I pointed my 1200 config file to. So could it be that when I'm running an ADF like Giana Sisters that it is defaulting to the 1200 config file and not the 500 one? How does it know which one to use btw anyhow?

Oh, and google what magic key word? :)

The ADF filetype actions add two entries in the contextmenu (one for A500 and another for A1200), the default one (when you doubleclick) being the 1200, IIRC.
So it's up to you to know if a game can run in a 500 or 1200 or not, basically. Obviously, a more advanced version of these scripts could use a database to do it properly.

@ Piru and TakemeHomeGrandma: What's up with the elusive references? And what is it that you are referring to anyhow?

@Fab: So is there a way to tell an ADF to launch off the 500 config and not the 1200 one?

I'm VERY new to this MorphOS stuff.

Yes, you use right mouse button over the adf file to bring contextmenu. You should see at the bottom two actions: one for A1200 (in bold, i guess), and another for A500.

@Fab: Thankx man, you just saved me walks on the beach, or memorizing and reciting magical incantations!

Now my questions is, how do I get your script to default to the 500config? I tried putting it above the 1200 one, but now the 1200 option is merely lower in the list, but is still default.

Well, I just didn't want to give too good instructions on how to google the KS ROM images. ;-)

Obviously since you have the Amiga Forever package anyway there would be no problem if you'd google them.

"Event DoubleClick" is the one that gets run when you doubleclick the icon. So the easiest solution is to edit the x-adf file and swap "Event DoubleClick"" and "Event Menu" strings.

Turns out the Kick Start images are fine, just eUAE complained about them until I corrected the config file. Not sure why it gave the error it did rather than tell me I had the wrong path, but what ever, it works now.

As for Event Double Click and Menu...

...um ya, I kinda overlooked those. ;)

And to think I somehow managed to solve so many Where's Waldo puzzles back in the day.

Thankx again!

So how far can I push all this emulation business anyhow? I've heard I could even install Dopus Magellan II in MorphOS, is that true?!
