And according to MR editor-in-chief Peter Glaskowsky, Intel and AMD had better watch out."

But then it is one hell of a well designed processor

If they can keep the costs down IBM will have a winner, at least until AMD move to their 90nm process.

IMO if IBM continue at their current pace, in a couple of years they'll be pushing Intel and AMD.

What all the Amiga sites have missed is IBMs announcement of the use of SSDOI (Strained Silicon Directly On Insulator) technology.  Which has just switched on 2 years ahead of schedule for the 970FX.

This could lead to a huge clock speed jump, my own opinion is IBM will have a 9xx CPU at 4GHz within 18 months.  If so Intel or AMD have no hope of catching it.
